My annual gripe about the BGSU ticket office

Post by 1987alum »

For the record, I'm usually treated pretty well by the folks via phone. They really aren't the problem.

But, please, for the love of Doyt Perry, add AMEX to your credit card options. I understand they have higher fees. Fine. Charge me an extra buck or two.

OK. I feel better now.

It think 87 is not being respected by the ticket office because he attended a Mid-Major school...If he went to a BCS school, they would have been able to use AmEx and picked up and chauffeured to the stadium...

I don't want it to stop for me, I just expect that it will bend to my will. Is that really so much to expect? :P

Capital ~ Agreed. I'll be BCS schools hand-deliver their tickets.

Maybe the ticket office should use PayPal. 8)

I assume that the ticket office (and all the others who don't take AMEX) do so in hopes of forcing them to lower the fee they charge. So it's kind of a protest thing.

RWT: Yep, that's the idea. However, I know that our company had success dealing directly with them. Some negotiation resulted in some savings. I would think the University would have some leverage there. But, again, maybe they could just offer PayPal as an option!

I have a lovely BGSU Alumni Association American Express card that is quite wonderful to show off except on the campus of BGSU.

I couldn't use my BGSU emblazoned card at the campus bookstore.

Right on '87!

How about the concession stand taking plastic? I'd like to add that to the list of credit card (or bank card) gripes!

Not to be snide, but is it all that difficult to bring a $5 bill to the game for a hot dog and soda? I'm just sayin...

Speaking about concessions, I don't recall anyone posting their thoughts on the new vendor from the Fall Sports Kickoff. If you were there I would be interested in how much of an improvement the concessions were in that limited setting.

If the concessions at the Fall Kickoff is any indication you'll need more than a $5 bill.

I was, to say the least, underwhelmed with the taste and overwhelmed with the price. (I had a grilled chicken sandwich. There wasn't much chicken, and what was there didn't have much flavor). I believe the bottle of Coke I had was $3.00 by itself. Save the $ and bring in your own food and drink.

Well, to speak for my self, it's a pain in the ass. I rarely carry cash because almost everybody that I deal with takes debit. To get cash, I must make a special errand to the ATM. (Besides, $5 would cover a dog and soda.)

Furthermore, cash is filthy. It is a spreader of germs and disease. I prefer not to touch it. I've heard of studies reporting the % of bills in circulation with trace amounts of cocaine and fecal matter. You don't even want to know what that % is.

Great point. I do not use a debit card, nor do I use ATMs. But then again, I'm friggin' ancient. The generation enrolled at Our Fair School is the front end of the No Cash Generation. Why can't concessions take a debit card? Would seem simple enough.
