The defense was very impressive the way they swarmed. They are as good as any defense I've seen at BG recently.

I would suggest that the RB position may become less of a RB as they line them up in the slot. Even with youth, I saw a freshman by the name of Willie Geter that was very tough after receptions. I really like the way he runs and even when he's caught he makes them work to get him down. Can't wait to see him vs. the MAC.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

I think the tempo of the o and some of key Rythm was just off due to some injuries.

This is going to be a very, very special team, folks. You can get down on the O-line if you wish, but the problem wasn't their blocking in the second half. MSU stepped UP in the seconday and locked down our recievers. It was amazing to see players open all over the place in the first half, and then nothing in the second. I give MSU a lot of credit for the way they D'ed up and adjusted. Our O-line is going to be fine, and the running game will come. I don't really fault the coaches for not pushing the run more in these two games. You've got three running backs - a true sophome, a true freshman, and a JC transfer - there is no sense in throwing them into the teeth of a Big 10 defense and making them hesitant to hit holes or turn it up-field later in the year.

That was an absolutely fantastic effort by the Falcons today!
Agreed 100%, on both the point of the Michigan State fans and our performance today. I think Michigan State is a great school for football, and they showed it today. Their fanbase is pretty classy for the most part (unlike a certain school about an hour north of EL that beat Turdledo today), and they are very knowledgable about football.

As for our performance, we played a very good first three quarters. I still think we should have gone for it on that 4th-and-1 from the 40 yard line late in the 3rd quarter. That was our last big scoring chance as it turned out. It probably wouldn't have led to a victory, but it would've been nice to keep that offensive momentum going. As for the O-Line, they didn't really come unglued until late in the 3rd quarter, and then really bad in the 4th. That won't happen against MAC teams, at least not nearly that bad. I am a little perturbed however, at the fact that we aren't throwing much downfield. Sheehan doesn't seem to be very accurate on deep throws, and the coaches don't call for deep passes much. I wonder if eventually this will cause teams to sink back into a short zone coverage at or just past linebacker depth like what MSU did in the 2nd half today.

All in all though, I'm thrilled with the effort of our first two games. We got the split, which was what I was hoping for. Now its two weeks until the home opener, and REVENGE!!!

24, I think you hit the nail on the head with that. I basically agree 100%

GREAT EFFORT TODAY GUYS, YOU MADE US PROUD!!!
GO FALCONS!!!
And awesome fans too...I have been a season ticket holder for 10 years now and I have to say that BGSU's fans were as great as any I have ever seen come in. I had some sitting behind me and they kept cheering for the Falcons until the last seconds ticked off the clock (even when it was obvious that BG was not going to win). Then they cheered them into the tunnel.

It was just a great game between 2 good football teams. I really do hope that BG follows this up with a great season and wins the MAC!

All of this nicey-nice talk with Spartan fans just feels too weird to this old time hockey fan who hated the green and white so much she wouldn't even wear green on St. Patrick's Day! St. Pat's day always was near the CCHA Playoffs at the Joe....need I say more? :-D
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

It was a thrill to see our team go punch for punch with a Big 10 team that is much improved from the years of John L. Our guys played with a ton of pride and guts on Saturday, and we threw just about all we had at them. While there were a few questionable calls (4th and 1), I felt that our guys really stepped up Saturday to show the college football world that Minnesota wasn't a fluke, and that this team will definitely make some noise in the MAC this year.

I think that we are finally seeing some of the promised talent GB said he had coming into this system, especially on defense. The quickness on D and our linebacker strength this year is going to be huge in games against teams like Kent, Ohio and Toledo. On offense, what else is there to say about Sheehan and Freddie Barnes? While there were 7 sacks, credit MSU to mixing up their defensive calls and causing disruption to our WR's in the 2nd half. However, this OL will be just fine once MAC play begins, and it will be a very big key to the success in conference play.

All in all, we're 1-1 and that's a lot more than many expected on here before the season started. Our team showed we could stand up to a power running game, and we escaped with relatively minor injuries outside of Ransom as Corey will likely play on the 22nd.

This is a great time for a bye week so some guys can lick some wounds, we can look at some film and prepare to whoop some MAC azz starting on the 22nd.

GO FALCONS! KICK SOME OWL ASS!

I would actually say that depending on how CP is doing, dress him for Temple but don't put him in unless you need to. He's struggled with injuries enough in the past. No reason to rush him into action if we don't have to use him.

Thats a great point, alot of the problems started to happen because of injury and fatigue.
