2 games in and...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

...this team is on a mission. I could tell at the fall kickoff event this team meant business. Saturday at Spartan Stadium was a blast...even though BG came up short. The kids played HARD...hitting MSU as hard as MSU was hitting them. It was great to see a sea of orange in Section 3. And there is no way in hell it was only 71 degrees yesterday. It felt like 90...and it affected the Freaklings as the game went on. It was tough for them to enjoy the game sweating like their old man. I had 3 layers of sunscreen on and still got burned a bit.

The tailgate was fun...MSU fans were total class. And the couple times we did hear the "BG sucks", I just said "Appalachian State" and they busted out laughing. Nothing like poking fun at Meeeeeeeeeeeeechigan to bridge the gap of friendship! LOL Great to see everyone that made the trip...Bleeding Orange, his dad and brother pulled into the Red Roof Inn 5 minutes after we got there Friday night. Made it home with one 16 oz Silver Bullet.

It was awesome seeing former Falcons Kurt Gerling, Eric Curl, Jason Stasser and Ricky Schneider at the game. MSU's student section was VERY impressive and it was a LOUD stadium. I'd love to see BG play there again or better yet, have MSU make the short trip down 75.

After seeing BG play these first two games, two things stand out more than anything else for me...

The attitude and swagger are back. We have guys on this team that will lay the wood every play. I love that...

And the confidence of the team. After the game, while the players were very upset with the loss, they still had this twinkle in their eyes like they couldn't wait to get a hold of Temple and the rest of the MAC> This team WILL contend not only for the East title but the MAC title. This team believes in one another and trusts one another.

I listened to Oregon bury UM on the way home and then UT/CMU. Caught a bit of the Kentucky/Kent State game as well.

A week off is just what we need right now...we're a bit beat up but a very strong bunch. It would be awesome to see Perry Stadium filled on the 22nd...doesn't matter what time kickoff is. We need to fill that stadium every game....no matter who the opponent is. This BG team is going places.

Give GB and staff credit...BG will be a difficult team to beat in MAC play and I think we'll give Boston College a hell of a run.

FALCON FOOTBALL IS BACK, BABY. CRUSH TEMPLE!

Great recap and thoughts Freak. I can't wait to turn the Cosby Kids into Conway Converts!!!

You know we'll be in the East lot bright and early. We coulda made the 12 hour drive the next week for a 6pm kickoff and a full day of tailgating fun, but I am glad we decided to go for the opener- 1. we owe temple and 2. i cannot wait to see this team in person!!!!

Go Falcons!

Excellent analysis Freak. I completely agree about the return of the swagger and confidence of the past. They look like they expect to win and expect to make big plays rather than just hoping for something positive to happen.

The ignorant Minnesota media was aghast that UM could have lost to a team that lost to Temple last year, a fact they repeated over and over in their stories. They didn't seem to realize that this is a new year and a new, vastly improved team.

Two games in and we should be happy....a split against the Big 10 is a good early signal for MAC hopes.

Certainly, as mentioned by a few posters, there are some improvable points but I think the good signs outweigh the bad. And my personal order of what we need to get better on is:

1.) Kickoff coverage
1B.) Kickoff returns - We've got an improved offense which helps mitigate our starting field position, but if we can lock down the competition deeper in their territory it will make more of a difference.

2.) Pass defense - I expected a little bit more out of this unit.

3.) Predictability / 3Q adjustments

I am more optimistic than the 7-5 I would have given two weeks ago, so let's see. And discount NOBODY, regardless of their record or the pts. they have given up. It's time to get some payback on Temple, Miami, Toledo, Akron and Kent.

See everybody soon enough...from wherever you hail from, whether it be as close as Perrysburg, FF in the Greentown, DD out of the S.C., how bout the Philly boys??

Definitely more optimistic about this season with the improved play from Sheehan. The defense is playing well, probably even a little better than I expected, but I thought this team would come down to what we saw from the QB position. If Tyler keeps playing like the past 2 weeks this team is definitely near the top of the MAC.

The next step is to demolish Temple!
