Anybody know anything about Ransom or any other injuries from this weekend?

I have a bad feeling about Ransom. At halftime, two players were carrying him off the field.

He was on crutches the rest of the day and I heard someone say it was his ACL...which would be pretty bad. He is definitely a playmaker and this is a BiG loss.

Other than that, besides the usual bumps and bruises, I think we're pretty healthy. Hopefully CP will be ready to go on 9/22...

I was wondering if it is a torn ACL why would they let him come back out on the field on crutches? Plus, if you tear it...aren't you in some big time pain? And, if it's that bad why do you have guys carrying him instad of ordering the cart to transport him immediately? I thought that him coming back on the field on cructhes in the second half was positive sign. I doubt we'll have him in two weeks for Temple and I think it could be more like a month. But, something tells me he didn't tear it.

Even with a tear, you could still walk on it, though that soon, it will be very swollen and sore. The reason the ACL tear is so serious is because it does not allow the lateral movement, which in athletics is a must.

Ransom being on the sideline on crutches does not rule out an ACL tear. Though I'm hoping he did not tear it.

I don't know for sure what happened to Ransom...just going by what I heard. Hopefully it isn't too serious and maybe Ryan A will have an update in the Blade tomorrow.

Are they having the coach's show tonight at Frickers? Maybe we can get some info...

I had a buddy who played golf all summer long on an ACL that he tore in the spring. He put off the surgery until Fall, when golf season was over.

In his case it was sore & swollen after the initial tear, but he was able to function normally walking and playing golf etc. However, he said it was painful and he couldn't do more strenuous stuff like basketball/softball until after the surgery. The surgery itself, however, took him out of commission completely for a few months while he rehabbed...that's why he put it off until fall.

FWIW, I've seen many players walk off the field under their own power and end up diagnosed with a torn ACL.

This is actually really common. The ACL only effects lateral movement. You can walk straight and feel fine, the minute you try to cut, you'll fall over. I had a friend here who tore his in an intramural game and didn't even know for 6 months until he tried playing another pick-up game!

I recommend tearing your MCL, PCL, or meniscus along with the ACL...it'll make finding the ACL tear go a lot faster

I tore my ACL, MCL and meniscus in high school playing basketball and when I did it.. I didn't even realize it because it damaged nerves in my leg, so I continued to play in the game until my knee starting slipping out of socket - so yes.. it is possible to be on crutches.. and not in much pain.

a tear that does not require a scope job can be treated with electro shock therapy (hurts as bad each time as the tear) to stimulate the healing process, if that is the case he could be back in as soon as two weeks to four weeks

One of the people I brought to the game with me is dealing with a torn ACL. He is walking just fine in only a brace. He said he won't have to use crutches until after the surgery.

Okay, I've lived it. I wouldn't medicate with beer afterward (it does hurt pretty bad when it happens). I couldn't walk on it the night it happened. Shortly after (about a week), I was able to walk on it - walked into surgery, but couldn't do much else.

Surgery/PT SUCK afterward!

I have patellar (SP? - I hate it enough that I don't care how to spell it) tendinitis right now, and just started PT today. This has been a truly sh**y injury, for sure. It is really frustrating when your brain is telling your legs to do something and is rewarded only with shooting pain and collapsing joints. Having a twenty-something girl with a PT license coax you through moving your leg up and down is even more humiliating, though.

If we end up losing Ransom for the season (crossing my fingers big-time that we don't), I wonder if there's been any thought on the coaching staff of moving Mark Wooldridge back to RB for depth? He was a Top-100 RB in high school last year.

I wasn't lying when I said it is probably a tear...I have heard from several VERY reliable sources...but we can all wait and hear the truth...it really is too bad if thats the case, but to be honest, I really dont think we will lose all that much, because I think Geter is gonna step up and prove that he is worth the hype. But yes, for Ransom's sake, this is terrible, and I hope he can recover and help us win a championship.
