Kent is going to throw the ball all over the place with Edleman scrambling. Kent scares me more than anyone on our MAC schedule. Look waht they did to us last year. Of course I think we have a chance to score with them this year as well. But they moved ball on Iowa State and Kentucky so far this year. We'll have trouble containing them.

Remember when we barely got past Kent the last time we played up there? A "deranged" Doug Martin basically said "The day will come when people fear playing Kent State" after a narrow win for the Falcons it was an odd thing for him to say.
Fast forward to last year and the onside kicks and the open offense with an athletic and exciting QB and it reminded me of the early Urban Meyer years at BG. I like what this guy is doing at Kent and how he is going about it. They DO scare me- not because of what they did in Ames, Iowa, but because of the fact that a team that we have a massive lopsided series advantage over put the worst home defeat in the history of our stadium on us last season.

Looking at our entire body of work this season and especially last, I am not convinced any game is going to be a gimme. If we keep playing like we have, there is a good chance we can roll through everyone...But we could very easily slip up and screw the pooch again. If we blow Temple off the field, I will be much more comfortable in our team.
Noah's first BG game was the 2003 Kent contest when Joshua Cribbs almost singlehandedly kept the Flashes in it into the fourth quarter. I wouldn't chalk anything up as a gimme this year.Dayons_Den wrote:Remember when we barely got past Kent the last time we played up there? I'll take them as they come. No looking past any opponent.

Kent and Miami will likely be our toughest challenges inside the conference this season. The rest of the East Division is a step below us. Akron and Ohio both have good defensive teams but very little offense. They don't scare me at all, because unless our offense has a really bad day against them (or special teams gives up a few TDs) we will likely beat both those teams. Buffalo, EMU, and Temple are all a joke. If we lose to any of those teams we should be ashamed. Even with all our problems last year, we went 2-1 against these teams and would have run the table were it not for the special teams breakdowns and turnovers against Temple. And no, I'm not impressed at all by Buffalo's win on Saturday. Until they actually beat somebody decent, as far as I'm concerned they are a doormat.
That leaves Toledo, and right now, they don't look very good at all. I know its early, and I know we haven't had much success against them lately, but I think this year we turn the tide against the Rockets.
At the outset of the year, I had the games called like this:
Minnesota - W (projected 28-24, actual 32-31)
Michigan State - L (projected 38-31, actual 28-17)
Temple - W
Western Kentucky - W
Boston College - L
Miami - W
Kent State - L
Ohio - W
Akron - L (just because every year we get screwed somehow)
Eastern Michigan - W
Buffalo - W
Toledo - W
After watching the first two weeks, I see no reason to change any of these games, except maybe Miami and Akron. There's a greater chance we might lose at Miami, and win against Akron at home.

Best answer by far. This team has the potential for greatness and abject suckatude on any given day.
