How long before FalconBoy is on the ND boards crying over the fact that they still have a few million $$$ to raise for the basketball project. It will never get done. It will never get done.Any plans for the new structure are purely theoretical at this point. Construction, or even architectural planning, would not start until all the funding is in hand. The new deficit in funding, coupled with such a wide range for a final cost, means that the realization of a new arena could come next month, or two to three years from now.
Notre Dame's basketball program knows that all too well. After having secured a lead donor for South Dome renovations in Philip Purcell late last year, the basketball facility improvements have sat on hold since, with that project's $25 million fundraising goal still not met.

I would guess that its another case...yet very different that is...where Football...Charlie W...got all the money
My guess is for us, it will not be long before we begin to hear some real public talk about what they are finding out and thinking what direction our future rink plans will go.
Odd factoide, the current was dedicated on my birth.

You're an adult?...you can drive, vote and breed?...God save us!!!
(just kidding MACMAN...I used to think you were 100% dick...now I think you're 85% purist and 12% dick with an added 3% douche as filler)
I hope they do renovate the exisiting structure instead of moving the team into a multi purpose building. It's the fricking Ice Arena...unlike Anderson Arena it's just a little creaky and not obsolete

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
It's really a Catch 22 at the Ice Arena. To truly compete, you need to have top-level facilities. However, facilities are usually only upgraded when your team is competing and winning. We have a top-class lockeroom, office, and lounge. We just need the ice to come to that level. A new freezer, seat replacements, and sound system and you're talking top of the CCHA.

I think the future plan will be some kind of hybrid of the 10 mill patch job and the brand new. Im thinking we will see a new multi use arena, it will however not be as grandiose as the 110mil idea...Some kind of morton building with good seating good lockers for B-ball and hockey, a nice work out facility, some kind of box seating.
I would really like to see in any situation a more international sized sheet of ice where by the width would be increased to 98'5" opposed to the the 85' we have now.\
But like i said im just interested in hearing what they are thinking

All we can do is continue to buy season tix and go to as many games as possible. If we want a new hockey facility, it has to start with a grass-roots movement. Until we show the administration that there is value in re-building the hockey program, they have no reason to put money into the team...
