Finally! We have permission to move forward with the golf outing that usually takes place in July (yesterday, as a matter of fact!)
We met with Curt this week and he has convinced GC that this outing is all about the friends and fans of the team! And there are a lot of them!
So, mark your calendars - Wednesday September 12 - BG Country Club. 8am and 1pm shotgun starts. 5-somes $80 per person includes t-shirt, lunch plus hot dogs and beer on the course, and the evening social with hor's douvres.
Please email me if you are interested and are not on the team's mailing list. [email protected]
And even if you don't golf, please make plans to come out to the evening social from 6:30 - 8:30. Only $15.
This outing is not about making money! There's no tee or hole sponsors, and no soliciting for prizes from the community, etc. It's all about the fans and getting them together! If we make a little money for the team in the meantime, great!
PASS IT ON!
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FANRAISER!!!
VOLUNTEERS, ANYONE?
I've gotten some nice emails from folks coming out to the social in the evening, and a couple offers to provide help! We appreciate it since we are trying to keep the coaches as work/hassle free as possible!
We need hot dog cookers! Two for the morning and two for the afternoon. If you don't play golf and would like to come out and help, let me know! Also, a few people to help register in the morning, and at noon, and to greet and collect from the folks coming for the social only. The idea is for the coaches to have a "no work" day!
We are very excited about having the opportunity to continue this tradition and be able to celebrate such a great program with friends, fans and family.

And here the only time I thought Brandi ever worked was in trying to keep the girls at 84 points so she didn't have to give me my FREE FRIES coupon!

I just got home from the Women's Basketball Golf Outing, and it was VERY impressive! It is too bad that the athletic department is trying to do away with the "individual sport" outings in lieu of the big outing in the summer. They will never match the income or the loyalty that some of these "individual" outings have. They had about 110 golfers and another 40-50 people at the post golf get together. It was very well done.
In a whole other observation, it is my guess that by the time the season is well under way, the women will have a LARGE following of the male student population on campus. Not only are these women very good basketball players and athletes, but they are also VERY attractive.

golf outing
The golf outing was a huge success! Thank you to all of you AZ'ers who were there, even though I don't know who you are!!! We couldn't have had better weather, that's for sure. We were three teams short of being full capacity on the country club! Wow! Just three weeks ago we only had a couple teams in the morning, and then the teams started coming in! We were thrilled with the turnout. And, with a minimum of 50 more non-golfers coming to the social, the dining room and bar of the CC were packed! It was great to meet the girls, and put faces to the names we've all heard about as they were being recruited and then signed.
Thanks again to all who came out and supported the program. It's truly a huge family! And that's what this outing was all about.
See you at the Tip off dinner on October 22!

Thanks transfer! It was well worth it.......but, I can honestly say now that GC is correct.......planning an outing like this takes too much time away from what coaches are paid to do.....coach! I don't know how they did it before with July being such a big road month too!
Everyone needs to support the Falcon Bash, and the Tip Off dinners, and things that support the 18 sports - 1 team philosophy to raise the big money, while the boosters handle the fanraisers like this golf outing! Maybe next year, Curt will play too like Roos did this year!

Kudos to WBB and all involved in the planning of the event. I had a great time! I think you took a huge load off the coaches and gave them more to time to mingle. It was great to see the new players, the vets and all the WBB faithful. What a great reunion leading up to the season in 50 more days

Hey Sgtrock! Thanks.....and I'm glad you mentioned the vets!

See, if you would have advertised that here first, you could have filled a DOZEN golf outings.WBBFAN wrote: Early 90's - Suzie Cassell-Pierce
Susie was always great to work with from the Radio Sports side of things... actually, they all were around that time. All the winning probably helped, but they were all great on (and off) the air.
