IF BG goes to a bowl game in CA or AL, the Freak will not be able to go. I have very little vacation time left and don't have the $$$$ to fly to either place. That would suck to miss out!!!
If BG ends up in the MCB again, we'll be there.
Now the good...
IF BG ends up in a bowl game in CA or AL, Mrs Freak said I could get a brand spankin new big screen TV to celebrate! So at least I would feel like I'm there. Any ideas or brands that anyone could recommend?
GO FALCONS!!!!!
Freak,
Had mine delivered to the new house Tuesday. So far I love it. I scoured the internet and did a lot of research on quality/prices, etc.
Between what I read online and what I have seen with my own eyes in the stores I decided that Toshiba & Sony had the best quality & picture. I went with the Toshiba 51h84, which is 51" rear projection. I don't know what price range you are looking at though. This TV is CRT Rear Projection, which is the old school style, although they have made great advances in the technology and the picture is much better than they used to be. If you have the cash you'll likely be looking at LCD or DLP Projection, or possibly even Plasma. On those more expensive technologies I cannot comment which brands are better, as they were way outta my price range.
What I can tell you is that my 51" seems to be a great TV (although with all the work I've been doing in & around the house have only watched maybe 3 hours of it

). One piece of advice is to HAGGLE or shop around. I will tell you, if you decide on this model exactly, that I paid $1300 even, plus a small delivery/setup fee (well worth it for $30). I got it at ABC after some back & forth. Their sticker was $1550 on this TV. Best Buy has it on sale this week for $1597. Do NOT pay sticker on one of these big TVs, they have a HUGE markup on them in the store, and you can get at least $250-$300 off that price. They may even throw in a free DVD or whatnot (they had me at $1350 + a free DVD player...I said $1300 even you keep the DVD, they accepted).
Like I said, I haven't watched enough of it yet to really give you my own impressions, but this got great reviews across the internet, and Toshiba has a good reputation on big screens.
