Follow Your Favorite Falcon Teams Free of Charge in 2007-08

Post by bgsufn »

This is great news!
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics, in conjunction with Falcon Sports Properties, CSTV.com and Stretch Internet, have agreed to a deal that will enable Falcon fans to listen to athletic events FOR FREE right here at BGSUFalcons.com. The agreement begins this Saturday, Sept. 22, with the football game vs. Temple, and extends through the 2007-08 academic year.

Under the new agreement, events broadcast by the Falcon Sports Radio Network will be aired over the web directly from the BGSUFalcons.com website. For the remainder of the 2007-08 athletic seasons, all live broadcasts will be free of charge. Archived events of previous games are available at a minimum charge after the completion of the contest.

The agreement includes the sports of football, men's and women's basketball and ice hockey. Women's basketball and hockey will be distributed through the BGSUFalcons.com by WBGU-FM 88.1, the flagship station for those two sports.

Listeners will need to have QuickTime Player installed on their computers to listen to the broadcast. A link will be provided on the site to download QuickTime Player, in the event that your computer does not already have it installed.

This agreement allows BG to avoid broadcast conflicts when several teams play at the same time. Even if all four of the sports are playing on the same night (Nov. 9, 2007, for example), each sport's broadcast will be available through BGSUFalcons.com.

CLICK HERE for more information about Stretch Internet. For additional information or questions about the new agreement, contact Falcon Sports Properties at (419) 372-4007.

This is AWESOME news!

Personally I have issues pulling in 107.7 occasionally so I can instead listen online. I'm sure this is even better for everyone that lives outside of the broadcast area.

Excellent.

A few hundred bucks (at most) in subscription fees vs. exposing your product to the masses and pleasing your current fans is a no brainer.

I wish they would go back to the Shoutcast streams they once had. I can actually pick those up on my phone's MP3 player. I love QuickTime on the computer, but for portability MP3/Shoutcast is the way to go.
