Why is BGSU 21 Pt Favs ?
I never portrayed Temple as a "good football team." I just posed the question to your fan base why experts would feel they could lay 21 pts on our team, since we beat you last year. I also attempted to shed a little light on why we were so bad.
It has been very frustrating to be a Temple FB fan, particularly knowing why we were a terrible team and watching helplessly as the administration trotted out the same leadership every year. Ultimately, Golden inherited a team in chaos & shambles. We now have 1 scholarship senior from a team he took over 20 months ago. Regardless, we are improved. I look forward to getting another week to measure how far we've come since Dec 05.

Temple is a whole hell of a lot better than anybody is giving the credit for being, especially after their "loss" to Connecticut. I don't see Temple beating BG, but I see them beating Akron, and stunning at least one of Miami, Kent, or Ohio. Out of the West, they've got WMU and NIU, and based off how those two are playing I could see an upset happening. So Temple may really come away with a decent season. Their lack of defense is their real problem (they only have 2 scholarship linebackers on roster
), but their offense seems to be pretty good. I have no idea of how good of a coach Al Golden is, though.

Bowling Green have an aerial attack that makes the '99 St. Louis Rams look like a Pop Warner team. We boast no less than 3 automatic first round NFL draft picks, one of which Mel Kiper has dubbed "the next Dan Marino." I think 21 is a bit short. It's absolutely criminal that this team isn't ranked in the top 25.
Awoooooooooga!

Be glad you don't play Toledo, mh55. We have a QB that I have dubbed "the current Aaron Opelt" and we have at least three automatic All-University of Toledo players in the backfield alone. We make Pop Warner teams look like the '99 Rams. We were screwed out of our rightful place in ESPN's Bottom Ten, but we'll get there.Columbus_Zak wrote:Bowling Green have an aerial attack that makes the '99 St. Louis Rams look like a Pop Warner team. BG, with "the next Dan MArino" and an NFL Super Bowl winner quality team should be favored by about 100, I would think. Gotta believe the 99 Rams could have put up that many against Temple.

I think 21 points is a little much when one considers are performances against the spreads over the past year when we are a favorite. So far though, we've done pretty good as a 'dog.
35-14 ...not out of the question, but I think this will be a full 4Q game. But hey if we want to go back to those 70 point days I don't have a problem with that.
Anybody seen Big O'D yet???? Maybe he's just lurking around here, but he's usually pretty good on what the spin is.

You know, even if GB sees the ability to hang 70 points, I'm guessing he won't. After we were the victims of vengeance beatings by Temple and Kent last year, maybe he's rethinking the previous strategy of trying to overload the scoreboard and would rather keep the games more reasonable so teams won't have the motivation again in the future to kick the tar out of us. Maybe that was also part of the thought on offense in the second half of Minnesota because they are coming to the Doyt next year ...

I sure hope not. Give teams as many reasons as possible to want to kick our tails next yr, as long as they have to do with us winning, are legit, and are not immoral.
When 3rd stringers are scoring td's, let them.

We made Miami, Fl look silly that year the way we beat the Owls and how they "struggled" to "only" score 34 points against them.

But I don't think we will see a repeat of that Saturday. It will be much closer. Bowling Green wins, but I don't buy that 21 point spread.
