Buffalo/Pittsburgh Outdoor game

Post by moneymaker02 »

is it possible for me to go back to high school in Buffalo so I can go to this game. They sold 42,000 tickets in a half hour, and the rest is being reserved for Pittsburgh fans and season ticket holders. I think it's safe to say that Buffalo is, THE REAL HOCKEY TOWN USA.

So what are the Bills?
Wait, don't answer that. I don't think I'd claim the Bills at this point, either :-D

The Bills are nothing until they're winning and the Sabres are losing. Of course, I don't believe the Sabres have won anything important in recent years, either.

Even with the Stanley Cup, comparing Raleigh, North Carolina to Buffalo as a hockey town is pretty much blasphemy. Buffalo is the best hockey town in the United States hands down. Just because Detroit calls themself Hockeytown doesn't make it true. With no baseball or basketball in Western NY, the Sabres take center stage all year except for the three hours a week when the Bills play. Anyone who thinks the NHL is no longer a major sport has obviously never been to downtown Buffalo on a game night.

Go Bills, beat the Cheat-riots.

Not comparing the towns, just the trophy cases.

It's okay. The way the Canes defended their title made me shed more than a few tears. I hope they can turn it around and stay healthy this year, and fight for something other than draft position again.

Detroit has had NHL hockey since 1929. Meanwhile, the Sabres aren't as old as the Rochester Americans of the AHL.

The Red Wings really are front and center in winter. Detroit is a huge market, so the Pistons and the Lions have their loyal fan bases. But the Red Wings are No. 1, by far, at least in the downriver suburbs where I grew up.

They are a bit like the Green Bay Packers or Dallas Cowboys are to football. Most places the Red Wings play, red jerseys come out of the woodwork. Some games here in Columbus have been half Red Wing fans.
