I think the only reason that the university feels comfortable doing it is because it has been done in the past with student organizations and they haven't had any problems with it (or at least not ones that have been publicly known)

I for one am all for it, although I do think the concerns are well founded. Still we need to get the students & fans involved in the game as much as we can. Last Saturday I was at the Purdue-CMU game & I had never seen so many fan gimmicks in my life. It seemed like everytime you sat down their was a new thing that you were supposed to be up chanting or doing... IT WAS GREAT! I also loved that they tried to "blackout" the crowd & that they urged people to get to the game early to enjoy the band & pre-game warm-ups. I can't wait to see what the atmosphere is like in BG tomorrow!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

I'm ambivalent. I think it's kind of hokey, but if it helps build support and becomes a "BG Thing" every year for the home opener, it could be good.

I dunno about the whole thing...I like the concept but part of me thinks some moron is going to take advantage of the situation to do something really stupid. I do give kudos though to the Athletic Dept. for at least being creative and trying to instill some passion into the new students. If they would do something like this at every home game or home opener, I think then it would hold more merit to it and fire up the students more.

Simple solution-anyone who does that gets tased. It would be hysterical! ;-)

All we gotta do then is put John Kerry on the video board and give the kid a chance to ask him a question.

It only works if the kid rambles on and on about voter disenfranchisement, blow-jobs, and secret societies on college campuses.
