And I would argue removing 7,500 to 8,000 seats changes the way casual fans need to count crowds.

I figured 15,500. I think we'll do better next week.

Agree on wait for concessions.

Twenty minutes before kickoff the stadium was empty -- maybe the folks complaining about waiting to get in need to leave the party a little earlier! But the student crowd was good and was into the game. A sea of orange

I don't think a noon start is a good idea. Damn TV games anyway. So many media time outs. The first quarter took nearly an hour to play.

All in all a good day and I have the sunburn to prove it!

Am I a "casual fan"? And yes, I was taking the reduced capacity into account.

Yeah, since when is it a tradition to play Neil Diamond??? Sweet Caroline? I like the song, but how does this fit with football?

BTW, I don't think it was until '04 or '05 that you could use your meal plan at the football games. I know for a fact it was never on option while I had a meal plan (2000 and 2001), so you can't get too mad about it. People lived without it before, they can do it again.

Yeah......that tune just didn't seem uh...football'ish. Isn't there a better suited tune out there for this end of 3rd qtr thingy?

Heck, Cotton-eyed Joe seemed more appropriate than Sweet Caroline. Anyone else notice they didn't play the chicken dance?

I gotta tell you... I kinda liked how the band kicked into Sweet Caroline.

I think Sweet Caroline is played mostly because of the reaction it gets from the students, especially at hockey games. They played Sweet Caroline inbetween the 2nd and 3rd periods at the Ice Arena last year, and it really got the students going. They are trying to do the same thing with football now too, and incorporating the band into it as well should be good. The song doesn't sound football-ish, but whatever works.

The Sebo Center is a heck of an amplifier....that was a decently loud crowd for 16,000. The stadium looked great today...the field looked good...the mural looked cool and the signs outside are a nice touch.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Crowd on the West side looked great on TV- a sea of orange. Well, OK, it looked awful- a sea of orange, ;-) but I thought you might have sold it out. They never showed the east stands while I was watching-16,000 has to be disappointing. We, on the other hand, had a robust 15,500. GRRRRRRR! Fair weather frickin', good fer nuthin', lowdown,... well, I would guess, with a nice home victory over Temple and all the new fixins there that word of mouth might get some additional attendance action. Good luck, and congrats on the win over Temple.

First off, it's "ridiculous." People misspelling that is getting rediculous.

I agree with just about everything being said in this thread - someone should forward a link to GC because it's all constructive, easily fixed things most fans want to see happen.

I wish we could establish some cool traditions for the students. We had a good amount and there needs to be some things to constantly keep them loud. I loved the 300 clip at the Michigan State game for the student sections on third down, and look how quickly that caught on for the thousands of students they pull in.

Who the hell thought switching the concessions over was a good idea?

The card swiping to get in the stadium is not working. I had to be there early and it still took me about 10 minutes to get in. I ended up punching a turnstile and cutting open a knuckle. I don't think doing that was very smart, but neither was not testing out those little swipers.

There was no excuse for not pulling in 20k to that game. Everything was lined up for a big crowd and it was not delivered. As I predicted, the students came out in great numbers but someone in the athletic department missed the boat on marketing to the rest of the town.

The stadium has a great feel now. We just need to get peoples' asses in seats so they can experience it for themselves and hopefully come back week after week.

After the game I guessed between 16 and 17K....nice to see I was dead on. Although I expected more, I can't control whether or not someone wants to attend. I can only make my family attend.

If the team keeps winning, more and more people will start showing up. I thought the student attendance was spectacular! Great job, students.

The stadium looked great yesterday....especially remembering the last game there vs. Miami.

Can't wait to get there under the lights for WKU!
