The rockettes have given me an idea...

Post by Bleeding Orange »

I followed a link and came across a thread on one of the UT boards dedicated to those crazy unemployed people finding every picture of hillbillies on the internet and figuring out how they were somehow BG fans, players or coaches. I laughed for about an hour thinking about how unemployed UT grads spend their time. But, thats an issue for another day...

One of the running themes is that we are nothing but hillbillies that drive hay-ride wagons. So, I'm thinking that we shove it right back in their faces. Why not get a wagon, paint it orange and take it to games (kind of like the sooner wagon, but with more of a 'Tuck Foledo' twist!).

I believe that this will accomplish two goals:

1. Let the rockettes know that we don't give a damn about their stereotypes about our beloved (and better!) university.

2. We could then organize an annual BG-TU parade. We'll bring our wagon with a horse strapped to it (that eats nothing but crappy astroturf!) and the rockettes can bring their urban decay, squalor and homelesness float!

Let me know what you guys think. Maybe we can pay some unemployed engineers with TU degrees to build the wagon!!!!!

Maybe we can do this next year.

I think we should scrape a few nickels together and buy a full page ad in the Collegian.

Well, we've got about fifteen cents committed so far, so now I say we start looking into storage! :?

I'm betting the ad deadline for this to be effective is here or gone.

On the other hand ... when BG wins, I'd be willing to pony up a few bucks for an ad along the lines of ...

Thanks for being great hosts Tuesday night. Hope you enjoy watching us in a bowl game.

Guys, I hope you realize that this is more of a joke than anything. Honestly, I just wanted to float the idea of an "urband decay, squalor and homelesness float" because I thought of it and couldn't stop laughing.

But, I will take any contributions you guys would be willing to make (I can't guarantee a wagon, though  ).

I'll see your .30 and raise it .70.

We need to build a fake rocket, blue and yellow, and plant it nose first into the ground on the that little island at the golf course, make with the smoke bombs. Put a giant Freddie doll in a fake AA gun next too it.

Of course we are missing an obvious one.

Dye the river that runs from Ottawa Hills, through UT, ORANGE.

Now if I could find some dye, in power form, that is actually snow white until wet........

I'm not sure about the parade. Parades in Toledo tend to be made up of all the sad pathetic political hacks walking around in tee-shirts, giving out nail files, with pick-ups mounted with giant signs.

These are good ideas -- especially the orange river thing. And I'm serious about the Collegian ad. A full page can't cost that much. Obviously, we would have to plan for next year... post a RFP on here, decide on one we like, and see if we can raise the money.

It could be very funny.
