Blade: Players Suspended

Post by MacGuy »

Bowling Green coach Gregg Brandon said defensive linemen Michael Ream and Nick Lawrence have been suspended for breaking a team rule. Ream could rejoin the team, but Lawrence's future with the team appears less promising.

"I don't know if he'll be back," Brandon said. "We're going to play that by ear and see how that goes."

Defensive back Vincent Corner is also suspended due to academic struggles.

BGSU's defensive line problems don't end with Ream and Lawrence. Starting end Joe Schaefer sprained his ankle against Temple and will probably miss Saturday's game against Western Kentucky.

Wasn't Lawrence the guy that was highly recruited but had some troubles with the law in HS? He may have had a zero-tolerance policy attached to him...

umm ya he had problems in high school but i dont know if he was THAT big of a recruit. they recruited him at linebacker and was to slow, moved him to d-line and was to small, then they moved him to fullback this year. honestly its not that big of a loss, we have plenty of depth for the years to come out of the last 2 recruiting classes

Yeah -- I remember being very conflicted when we signed him. Second chances vs. drug dealer on the team.

Man, that bums me out about Ream. He was showing so much promise.

Lawrence was busted selling drugs to undercover agents. The cops were on him for a while and, IIRC, his mom is the mayor of the town.

I sincerely hope Ream gets it together...I'd hate to see all his hard work go down the drain. :x

I think Lawrence just might escape MM's wrath. Something tells me there's a key difference between him and AT in MM's eyes....
