His family was sitting near where our season tickets were on Saturday. They went apesh*t crazy when we threw on the two 3rd and 1s. Can't say I blame them.Dayons_Den wrote:I feel for Bullock. It would be a shame to have a proven offensive weapon sitting because he doesn't fit in with the game plan.

I'd bet a shiny nickel that we won't see us throw on consecutive 3rd and 1s again this year!bgsufn wrote:His family was sitting near where our season tickets were on Saturday. OK Flip. But I skipped over bobio's comment and just saw yours which said "..the program has been in a free fall under Brandon..." and was just commenting on that. I guess you didn't quote bobio clearly enough.Flipper wrote:warthog...bobio said the program was in a "free fall" SINCE BRANDON TOOK OVER. I know you don't like Brandon, but let's not rewrite history to suit our irrational and insane opinions....
I can agree that Brandon had some early success, but I don't think it is fair to call it irrational or insane to question the coach whose winning percentage has declined every year he has been here to a point where we we only won 4 games and lost to Temple.
But we're 2-1 now, playing well, things are looking better, so let the lovefest continue!

The spread is great...passing is exciting...but not having a run game will be our undoing.( last years perfect football game vs Miami example a) It adds a very strong tried and true dimension to the game that is proven among winners.
GB has proven that while the wide open full throttle no huddle will put points on the board, the players (and this not an issue of fault folks) they just seemingly can not sustain the pace that it requires. we need some variation we need a run game...so we can get our points up fast, then pound it out. It will also serve to educate our players for those few that move on to the next level, and or make them more desirable.

Would you care to tell PJ Pope that you can't run effectively out of the spread?MACMAN wrote:The spread is great...passing is exciting...but not having a run game will be our undoing.( last years perfect football game vs Miami example a) It adds a very strong tried and true dimension to the game that is proven among winners.

I don't believe MACMAN is saying we can not run out of the spread. He is saying we do not run out of the spread. This seems to be a decision made by GB and if the past is any indication he will stick with that decision until he needs to change it in a game situation. I can only hope he is practicing it so the team will have been taught what to do when the time comes. As much as I would love to see us rack up big scores, when the game is decided it would be nice to see a long drive on the ground to eat up time.

Along this vein, I was encouraged to see AT's appearance, along with some under center formations down the stretch against Temple. At least we've practiced some running plays for clock-killing scenarios. It's the Journey... wrote:I don't believe MACMAN is saying we can not run out of the spread. Still, I'd like to see some of those plays sprinkled in when it matters. Maybe Brandon and McCall are evil geniusing everybody and building these tendencies to go against down the road in the bigger games (read: Toledo). That would be sweet.

This is something that I really don't understand. Have we run a play all year with Sheehan under center? I have not seen/heard every down, but I'm guessing no. So what the hell is the point of putting your #2/#3 QBs in the game and then run an offense that they would never run if they were actually called on with the game in the balance? Why wouldn't you at least have Glaud in the shotgun handing it off? That is something he would actually do in a game. Unless of course we have three separate offenses that we would run based on who is playing QB.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Along this vein, I was encouraged to see AT's appearance, along with some under center formations down the stretch against Temple.

Well clearly we have one offense for Turner and one for Sheehan. That's clear as day.Warthog wrote:This is something that I really don't understand.
