Recruits and Questions

Post by Rollo83 »

Scott Thomas, Austin Calhoun, and Dee Brown...Class of 2008.

Are these guys a different class/style of athlete than we have been getting at BG the past few years? Do we get these guys if Dan's still coach? Is this a product of Coach Orr doing the recruiting? Does the fact that Coach Orr is an African-Amercian play into this at all? If we start winning will it breed more recrutiing successes in the future?

It's a new day for BG baasketball!

They all appear to be at or slightly above the caliber of recruit that Dakich would get. We hit Michigan hard and will continue to do so with LaMonta Stone on the staff, but we'll probably focus more on Ohio with Orr as opposed to Indiana with Dakich.

IMO, recruiting was never the issue with Dakich. It was keeping the players around for 4 years and allowing them to develop their game and mature into upperclassmen. The successful MAC teams have always had strong, deep senior classes.

Dakich had problems with recruiting kids that would specifically fit his system and core philosophies. Hopefully Orr will be more successful in this area.
