Sebo effect

Post by SicSic80 »

It's been awhile - great to be back. Spent some time on the field after our opening day win (thanks again Freak for showing Mitch and I around a little bit :D ) and it was during this time that we had a little chat with Van Wright. To say he was enthused about the effect the Sebo is having on future potential recruits would be quite the understatement!! Evidently there are at least a couple of "legit studs" (as he put it) that have already verballed due in large part to the presence of our new facility. Gonna be very interesting to track this effect over the coming few years. Hope to get back this Saturday and visit with all.
Forever a Falcon!!

Did anyone else think that the Sebo seemed to help the noise level, too? Tech83 could probably best answer that, but it seemed like the closed North end helped contain the noise better. Or maybe the Ay Ziggy Zoombells were just turned up to 11!

:P

The Sebo gives you another "hard" surface for sounds to bounce off. Really more of a Physics question. Where the hell is PGY and UK P at when you need them to answer Bill Nye type questions?

From a musicians point of view; concert bands always use a shell to help project EVERY sound away from the stage. The SEBO is effectively a giant concert shell, not only for the band, but for the entire crowd also. With three enclosed sides of the stadium the sound is completely amplified and with no wind anymore to sweep it away, the place will be twice as loud.
Yeah right girl!

I second that! Van was all jacked up...and rightly so! It IS a beautiful building and being able to donate to the fund is the best.

I can't wait until I can actually make it to a game this season...I will DEFINITELY be at the game against the team up 75 way, and hopefully one of the other home games in between...probably the one at the end of October, as November 2nd is a Friday and my dad's birthday...I can't wait to see a game under the lights!

I defn think that SEBO made the Doyt a lot louder, especially the band. The only problem was the fans weren't making half the noise they should do, so overall it may not have seemed to make that big of an impact!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Oh, some of us were! We were actually trying to make up for the mice around us.

GET ON YOUR FEET, BUB!!!!! SCREAM!!! With the SEBO, the stadium could be a heck of a loud place.

Any chance on getting a clue as to who these "studs" might be? :)

Considering it's against NCAA rules to talk about recruits that haven't signed a LOI or committed, I'd venture to say no.

I'm not talking about from the coach, but if some other person not affiliated with the team knows something , they can say anything. Or is what we've been doing on this site for the past 6 or so years been illegal? :?

Here's the problem. Sites like Rivals have to go off what the player or close family and friends around them are saying. They only chance to really find out who's interested in the University is to hear it from the horses mouth, or at least friends and family of the horse. However, if someone recognized Joe Schmo, the touted RB from MI at the game, that's fine to say they attended.

Essentially, anyone associated with the U can't talk about potential future players.

So this Van Wright is associated with the university then? I understand the whole university connections and not being allowed to interact with athletes and such , but not being able to talk about an athlete just for working for the university? I though that rule was just for the coach. I guess the NCAA is even more strict than I thought.

The Sebo makes a great backyard for the stadium, possibly the best, but the front door is still the south end. In my opinion the work has just begun and now we need to finish the front end.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
