I have to admit, it would be a heckuva lot more impressive if the Nittany Lion marching did a script Pennsylvania.

I never thought of Pennsylvania, that would be a good one. Louisiana would be good one too.

I figure this is a good thread to make my first post. My father went to BG and I followed in his foot steps. I would cheer for BG whenever I got a chance to see them, but I usually sported other teams. When I went to school it was during the McLeod, Harris, Jacobs era, and there was a lot of excitement for BG sports. However they always played second fiddle to OSU. I will admit I am not an OSU fan, and I always crack a smile when they come up short. Any time when somebody asks me when the last time BG won a national title, I always retort when was the last time BG got embarrassed like that on national television. I know in my heart BG will never get a chance to win a national title, thanks to an unfair system. (Just ask Boise State) However I will always bleed orange and brown, and I will always cheer for the underdogs.

Second there is no better experience than a college football game. For all of those OSU fans on BG's campus they are missing out on a great experience. The tailgating, cheering obnoxiously, watching your team claim victory is one of the greatest feelings you can have. Watching on TV feels like a football game with a condom on. So if you like the TV and not the live atmosphere, go on out to the games and support YOUR team. If not stay at home and just make yourself believe you helped OSU. Come on out to the game, and make the place feel like a Browns game, and start a Falcons Nest (Dawg Pound) if you want to. Most importantly have fun and enjoy this time in your life.

LOL! That was one of the best questions I've ever seen! Love it!

"Any time when somebody asks me when the last time BG won a national title".

1984-Hockey.

I tell OSU fans that BG has more NCAA National titles in the last 30 years than OSU. They say "What about 2002??????". Sorry, that is the BCS title game...and, unfortunately for you, the NCAA DOES NOT recognize that title. :-D

Quick story....Freakling1 was talking to my BIL, Shane. He is a huge OSU fan although he attended Akron for a while. One day Shane starts getting in Josh's face a bit about OSU. He asked "When's the last time BGSU won a national title???" Without missing a beat, Josh says "1984!! NCAA Champs in Hockey!!!"

Shane, befuddled like most OSU fans are, answers "I was talking about football". Josh says "Well, you didn't say football. But to let you know, BG won the national title College Division in 1959 and almost won it in 1960 as well". :D The Freaklings know their stuff!

I was laughing so hard cuz Shane didn't know what to say. I then told him "Umm, the NCAA does not recognize OSU's BCS Title from 2002 so Josh is correct. BG has more NCAA titles than OSU in the last 30 years". I then asked him "How many titles has OSU won in hockey?" He said "Who cares?" Typical Buck$ fan....follow football only and are totally clueless about any other sports.

Not I. Not I...

I guess I could be found cheering for the Illini or NIU, but that doesn't happen all that often. Even though I do cheer for those two (U of I is my Sister's Alma Mater, and NIU is my Parents' Alma Mater), BG is #1, no matter how far from campus I move.

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but BG has not won more NCAA titles in the last 30 years than OSU. I decided to look up their titles and OSU has a men's golf title and three men's gymnastics titles in the last 30 years. I know most OSU fans won't know that, but eventually you're going to run into somebody who does.

I think they actually have more than that. I think their women's synchronized swimming team has won something like 20-25 NCAA titles in the last 30-40 years. Of course it's women's synchronized swimming, so who really gives a damn?

That's great! Seeing as how OSU has 35 varsity sports and BG has 18, one would know the chances are much better for OSU...not to mention the huge disparity in athletic budgets between the two. I highly doubt any OSU fan will know anything you posted. Thanks for the correction, though.

I second that emotion big time. I can sorta understand students that come to BG from areas around or very near Columbus still being OSU fans but it really irks me when students or others from BG and the near surrounding area can't support BG above OSU.

I'm also of the firm belief that if the BCS was abolished and the NCAA supported a real NC with a playoff , then you'd get a bit more support from some people who don't care enough for BG simply cuz they can't get to a BCS "NC" game and thus not though of as "big time". With the way Lady Falcon B-ball is whipping people , the volleyball team , the softball team, new energy in football and new outlook for men's b-ball, there's less and less excused for not getting into BG sports and support them with passion and vigor. I'm not even a student of BG but they're my local hometown team (*born in Portage) and nothing excites me more than being able to support a local team than I can impact in some way for victory.

Here's a thought. Charge for students to enter a BG game (football, basketball, hockey....what have you), only let them enter free if they are wearing BG attire or colors.

And you just cut your student attendance in half.

Not to mention, all students already are being charged for games, even if they don't attend.

Practically, this could never work. Philosophically, I think it's a fantastic idea. We could call it a douchebag tax =)

I am so glad that other people are noticing this now.. My room mates and I have been talking about it for the 3rd year now. We went to BDUBS to watch BGSU's 2nd game, but we couldn't find a seat because there was scarlet and gray everywhere and not one TV displaying the BGSU game! We ended up going to JED's where we made them switch 3 of the TV's over to the BGSU game..

The worst part was the bandwagon OSU fans.. I am sick of hearing them chant OH-IO and then when OSU messes up (RARELY) they will watch the BGSU game and chant with us, then when BGSU messes up they are right back to OSU.. It's absolutely disgusting, sorry you didn't get into OSU, instead of being a reject, show some spirit for the school you DO attend...

Agreed. I've never lost my passion for Falcon sports since leaving Ohio. I can't get much further away from BG than I am now. I also used to live in Phoenix and I found a great group of BG alums that I'm still friends with to this day. In Phx, we'd always have football and b-ball watch parties. We even made a trek across the country to attend the Wisky-BG games the previous 2 seasons.

Well, when in high school, I used to be a HUGE Buckeye fan. And to a certain extent, even while attending BGSU I still was, but certainly have seen my error. I have become a huge BGSU fan and now I can't root for Ohio State at all in anything, except when they are playing Michigan. (But then again, what kind of a sicko would EVER cheer for scUM? I can't stand watching Ohio State any more. I only wear BGSU or other MAC school gear (most of which I got by trading my stuff with other equipment managers for football teams, while in school). Ohio State has an unfair advantage over all other Ohio state universities. The General Assembly allows OSU to be exempt from most every law that limits what state u's can do, but always givens them first dibs at state monies.

I have only grown stronger in my allegiance to BGSU since my graduation in 1999. I can't see that changing for anything!
