BG vs Ohio St
BG vs Ohio St
Hypothetically speaking...
If Ohio St were to lose to BG in a bowl game, do you think attendence at our games would go up next year? Do you think the media would make a big deal of us beating Ohio St?
Personally I would like to see this Ohio St. biased media cave and admit Bg is the best team in Ohio
But maybe I am getting ahead of myself here.

IF BG beat OSU in a bowl game, I think our attendance would go up....somewhat.
THere would probably be folks writing it off as one bad OSU game and be right back with the Bucks.
BG is the BEST College team in Ohio this year. We'll prove it again Tuesday night!!

I think if it would help, it would be only slightly. It's a long time from the bowl game to the next home game, and as deep as allegiances to Ohio State run, a BG bowl win would be forgotten the first time a national publication put OSU in the preseason top 25.
I'd rather just beat Toledo first, worry about Ohio State never.

If even we do play Ohio State.. which probably won't happen.. it wouldn't do much for attendance.
As sad as it is.. much of BG's attendance depends on the time of the game.
The die hard Michigan and Ohio State fans would rather sit in the parking lot of the Doyt and watch "their teams" on a tv plugged into a cigarette lighter than go into the Doyt and watch Ohio's REAL team.
That's how it's been for years.. it is getting better but it still very much that way.

My sentiments are exactly as viewed above ^^^^^ NO WAY in the world would Ohio State accept a bowl bid to a game that POTENTIALLY pits them against BG, UT, Akron, Miami or Capital for that matter. They simply will not do it.
The only guaranteed game we have is 2010 in the Horseshoe.
The main things that help attendance, since I have not weighed in on this one, are simply the following things:
1. BG home NIGHT games against VIABLE COMPETITION and SE Mizzou State doesn't count. As the tailgaiters said Sat, that was an "abberation" b/c we were coming off of such a huge high from the OU game. The Boise State game is a tremendous step in the right direction.
2. Banners hung from the Wooster side of the new Scoreboard and facing I-75 from the side of the stadium ADVERTISING the time of the game and WHO IN THE HELL WE PLAY THAT WEEK. There's a novel idea as you could run a poll on campus most weeks and it's mystery who we are even playing, much less what time the game starts. Locally, you have options at Kinko's and Jeff Rice's Print Shop uptown. Free advertising for both would do wonders for their business. I'm sure you do a few of those and who knows maybe a CORPORATE sponsor jumps on board . . . HMMM the possibilities . . .
3. Ohio State Probation would help to a degree and moreso than BG beating the Buckeyes in a "down" year. There are excuses galore in Buckeye country and there'll be even more when they don't get that much anticipated BCS bid on Saturday . . . BTW . . . If Lloyd Carr gives Chad Henne the playbook . . . it's simple and over . . . UM 34 and OSU 13 and that's being nice.
4. This is the biggest gripe that I have with our marketing . . . SELL SINGLE GAME TICKETS . . . If you're a Falcon fan and have tried to go to a game on the road . . . it is nearly impossible to get a ticket through this ticket office. When you have a homecoming game, there are 30,000 people (well, in most years) to sell SINGLE game basketball tickets too . . . Do the same for football, hockey and the women's sports . . . Get people excited at the base level and then bring them up to the season ticket contribution.
5. Generate buzz around your program. BG football now has a face . . . When discussing past Heisman winners with a few friends a day or two ago . . . The winner USUALLY has a catchy, easy-to-remember name or has a great story . . . OMAR and DREADLOCKS give us so many options it's not even funny and the great part is he'll be here two more years . . .

Typical statement from an OSU fan...bgbrandon wrote:bottomline, BG will not play ohio state in a bowl. even if ohio state loses saturday, they would go to the music city or sun bowl. no hypothetical situation even needed here folks
OSU sucks, the bowls know it too! I don't care how much money they can "bring" to the bowl...they shouldn't be in any this year!

He's just stating the plain truth: Until the Motor City Bowl moves up in the Big Ten pecking order, it will remain impossible for Michigan or Ohio State to play in that game.McMetz811 wrote:Typical statement from an OSU fan...bgbrandon wrote:bottomline, BG will not play ohio state in a bowl. even if ohio state loses saturday, they would go to the music city or sun bowl. no hypothetical situation even needed here folks

Factman is correct. Any road games I attend (which is most of them) I always order ahead of time...especially for UT. Best way to insure getting road tickets in the BG sections is to order season tickets and the road tickets at the same time.factman wrote:You can order any "away" game ticket you want on your season ticket order form, but then again, alot of you that complain about things don't order season tickets!
Most schools not named Ohio U sent their tickets over in a very timely manner.

Option - OmarJacobs 4 Heisman.com should be on their minds immediately.OptionQB wrote: 5. Generate buzz around your program. BG football now has a face . . . I doubt a QB of Omar's size, skill, arm strength and especially accuracy will be around here his senior season. I'd bet that he pulls a "big ben" and will split after next year

call me optomistic, but I bet he's here for 2 more. Unless we run the table next year, and handily, and he is invited to NY for the heisman ceremony. he will stay. or if he thinks that his Sr. year we wont have enough talent around him to keep he stats at Godly levels, he may decide to go. I cant see him getting as much hype as Elli did *cough* over-rated *cough*, especialyl being from Bowling Green University [like the ESPN referenceFalcon30 wrote:Option - OmarJacobs 4 Heisman.com should be on their minds immediately.

Omar4Heisman.com has the nice use of his number in the title, something we didn't have last year, but I really liked the alliteration of Harris4Heisman.com.Falcon30 wrote:

Either way, I would like it if the university would take it upon themselves to design the site this time rather than rely on the fans to do so.
