I didn't mind the orange jerseys at all...I kinda like having multiple looks.
Good, solid win...more work and improvement is needed. We just need to keep getting better.
Saturday could be a pleasant surprise...but we will need to come out playing lights out from the start.
Great night for football and another BG victory. 3-1, 1-0 MAC....Things are looking good!

Here’s my take on the game:
The Good: We won! Enough said right there, right. I’ll take a win any way we can get one. I thought our passing game, pass protection and the play calling looked solid and the defense made some key stops when needed and our course, all of the interceptions. The place kicking and the punting also looked very good. Also, having over 20,000 in the stands, the beautiful weather, the tailgating and lastly, seeing us back in the orange jerseys. Lots of good things to talk about after this game.
The Bad: The kickoffs going out of bounds, Sheehan getting dinged up and leaving for the locker room (though he returned and played the rest of the game which was a huge relief and quickly erased an Omar Jacobs injury-like flashback from a couple years ago), and seeing Nick Davis’ knee buckle underneath him and watching him go down. For whatever reason I was watching him with my binoculars on that exact play and saw him go down. He walked off the field, but gingerly. I hope he’s okay. Lastly, seeing so many people leave after halftime again. What is the deal with that? It was the same last week when it was 21-21 all. I know this weekend there was a concert and it was a night game and some have to travel several hours home, but it puzzles me why so many ticket holders and student leave after halftime? And it’s not just this year, or just for night games. We have 20,000 for the first half and lose about half of that after halftime.
The Ugly: All of the penalties and some of the calls by the refs (both ways) on the penalties. But mostly, watching WKU rack up 311 rushing yards against us. Yes, I know a good chunk of them came after we went up 41-7 and we had some reserves in there and all. But they just ran the ball right down our throat time and time again with 10, 15, 20, 30 & 50 yards carries. I like getting to see our starters rest and all the reserves play out there, but in the closing minutes of both the Temple and WKU games, it sort of soured the win a little watching us look like bystanders on defense to end the game again.

GO BG!!!
Yeah, I noticed that too, anyone else know what happened to him? I realize that he came back out firing, but it would still be nice to know what happened to make him go into the locker room for half a quarter. I was a little upset to see us start up so slowly, but it seemed like once we got started we were pretty productive. All I have to say is that I hope we aren't slow starting out against Boston College because that would really hurt our chances of beating them.turtle wrote:I was very impressed with Sheehan. I think it was late in the first when I saw him going into the locker room with his right arm just kind of hanging with no motion and I thought “Oh poop”. But then he came back out in the second and was throwing just as hard as ever and not afraid to tuck it and take a hit.

That occurred to me, too. Maybe the idea was to go "retro" for a day. I dunno.windycityfalcon wrote:Could it be that our orange unis are now what the brown ones used to be?BGSUFootballFan wrote:I like the orange unis a lot as well. Sure the brown ones are amazing, but I wish we would only wear them sparingly. Kinda like ND does with their green ones!
Maybe we wore them because it was homecoming?? Just a thought.
I believe they had 136 of those yards at the half, so they were certainly running well before just garbage time. Like I said, they were very inconsistent throwing the ball and that helped our defense immensely. Kudos to the DBs for hanging onto the balls they got their hands on as well.BGSU33 wrote: The Ugly: All of the penalties and some of the calls by the refs (both ways) on the penalties. Still, allowing 300 yards rushing is not a recipe for success. Whatever went wrong there better get corrected soon or it could cost us in MAC play. The defense was MUCH better against the run in the MSU game, so maybe it was just a bad day, still it was scary watching how easily they carved us up on the ground.

I think our d had a day like we did a few years back against Josh Cribbs and the Flashes. From the radio broadcast it sounded like the WKU qb was very deceptive and elusive which I am sure caused problems for our line and lbs- do they pass rush or stay home and contain?
One question for you folks that were there in person- How did Glaud look?
I mean I can see his numbers and know the plays he ran, but did he look confident under center? Did he look like a qb out there? Do you think they will rotate him in regularly?
In that same vein, how did Turner look lined up at RB? Will he be getting reps as a RB with the potential to throw?

Glaud looked good, but he stared down all of his targets. Sheehan, if you have noticed, tends to either look off the DBs or at least check down to other receivers. Glaud looked at one person and then threw it to them, and I noticed that if that person was covered, he just threw it so it wasn't catchable to anybody in the area.
As for Turner, he wasn't as productive as I had hoped at RB and Geter/Bullock will be better suited back there. Turner just doesn't have the size to actually be an effective RB and would only be good on toss sweep plays (where Geter would still be the better option).

Yeah, we were much better vs MSU. I was watching a abit of the MSU vs Wisky game on ABC and they had a graphic up of MSU's rushing yds in games to date and we had allowed the fewest rushing yds of all of MSU's opponents only 136 or something. ND gave up 227. I guess it could've been all of WKU's qb running out of the pocket and getting yards , but still not too good there. We have to do better in that area plus many others to beat BC Sat.hammb wrote:I believe they had 136 of those yards at the half, so they were certainly running well before just garbage time. That was Noah's first game and, boy, was Cribbs en fuego. The Flashes sound like they have a similar weapon this year, too.Dayons_Den wrote:I think our d had a day like we did a few years back against Josh Cribbs and the Flashes. Our D is more athletic than years past, so I think they'll improve here.
As for Turner, he's not built like a RB, but I could see him being effective as a slot man, if he has the hands for it.

Yes, he ended up being carried off the field by two guys after getting hit in the knee along the sideline after a long run. That was an extremely chippy game.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Didn't we bust Cribbs' leg in a melee in that game? I seem to remember that game being extreeeeeemely chippy.
