Great story about another kid that brings his lunch pail to work every day and does his job. Loren's had some ups and downs thru his years here at BG and never gave up...I love his leadership skills and work ethic. That seems to be quite a common theme on this year's team. "Work ethic and leadership skills". When you have a team of players that all work hard and bust their tails, good things will happen...and they are.

He's a great kid to talk with as well. I hope he puts extra pop on his tackles this week on the team that decided not to give him the schollie. And I'm damn glad he's a FALCON.

Now the Boston College coaches are playing dumb and claiming they don't remember Hargrove and they would never pull an offer after an injury.

Typical mind set. The writer trying to say since their enroolment is less than BG, there is not much difference. Come on. BCS money talks and that is what is wrong the college football.

Teams pull offers all the time. Purdue just did that to a kid from Kentucky that got injured. Just own up to it.

Brandon looks at the game as a chance to create a stir nationally. "It's a great opportunity for us," he said. "The kids will be excited. The first time in school history we're going against a top-10 opponent."

This 'graph got me a little bit. Oklahoma was #2 when we opened up there and Ohio State was #5 when we lost by seven in the 'Shoe.

innnteresssstingggg. i guess there right in the fact that there are two sides to the story and maybe it wasnt just cause of the injury but saying they dont even remeber him didnt make sense. Why would hargrove make something like that up?

I always laugh when they refer to BG as a "small" school. 21,000 students is NOT a small school. Sure it isn't 55k like OSU or 47K like MN and WI but damn. To me, a small school is Wooster, Mt Union or Findlay. No disrespect to any of those schools, either.

I thought OSU was #4 in 2003? Not much of a difference, though. What about Michigan in 2000? Were they in the preseason Top 10 since it was the opener?

Tomorrow at 3:30, everyone in Boston will know how good BG is.

I agree BG isn't THAT small of a school. I go to Purdue and we have about 36K in students. Every year we manage to actually SELL about 15-20K student SEASON tickets. That is what baffles me when I go to a BG game and people say what an amazing student turnout there was. Sure it is not bad, I bet it could be even worse.. but you would think at least half would be willing to come for FREE! That would be 10K in attendance right there!

It could certainly be better, but if we're pulling in 7000 or so students I'm happy. That's 1/3 of the student body. Not as much as you get at Purdue, but we're not in the Big 10 either. A lot of those student tickets probably get sold because they have good resale value when they play big home games.

Trust me, when I was in school there wouldn't be 7000 people TOTAL at the games. Student attendance was pretty much nonexistent at the time as well. I remember games with announced attendance in the 9000 range that I don't think there were half that many actually in the stands. I'm quite happy getting 7000 students. If we could get 10k it would be better, but getting 30% of the student body out to the games is pretty good, IMO.

Agree hammb. I can remember games in the late 90's and 2000 when maybe 500 students would show up. 6-10K total. It was horrible.

7,000 students is awesome...as the team keeps improving and winning, watch what happens. Perry Stadium is THEE place to be these days...again. Man, I love seeing an almost full stadium....I think if BG can win @ Miami and @ Kent, the Ohio game will sell out. Beat BC and that is a given.

What is the on-campus population and off-campus city population, does the 21,000 student number include commuters and Firelands campus, I think 7,000 students is a good turnout. When attending class I lived in BG during the week and went home on weekends to work.

Wow 500 thats REALLY BAD. If we really are pulling 7,000 then I guess I'm pretty happy with that. The thing about me going to Purdue is that everyone talks so down on football. I'm a PE major so I have class with a lot of the PU football players, former HS football players, people who just plain love football, and people who love all sports in general. Despite all of that hardly anyone has worn a PU football shirt this week or said many positive things about PU football. The large majority of people that I've talked to think PU will get crushed by OSU so why even bother getting excited etc...

So when I hear all of this stuff, and watch the students here support other big powerhouse schools it makes me wonder how we still pull in 20K in student attendance at 225 bucks for a season ticket, when BG can't pull in a similar attendance percentage for FREE(kinda).

It really doesn't make sense to me, but I guess hammb you're most likely right with the difference being in conferences. It just seems like to me the price thing significantly helps make up the difference in the competiton (lack of) level. I guess I should really start cheering for all of the MAC to move up the food chain instead of just BG. That's going to be one tough road to hoe..
