Mack didn't play DE...he played DT. He looked decent when lined up next to Briggs a couple of years ago.

You are a fricking genius falconboy...you don't watch these guys practice or anything but you know more than the coaches about who should occupy what spot on the depth chart.....amazing...simply amazing :-)
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I'm pretty sure he was moved to DT from DE sometime last year and then to the OL. Frankly I don't care where he plays as long as GB finds a way to get his talented azz on the frickin football field before he graduates. Besides many other people here besides me spoken up about GB's IMHO odd roster moves. Since when must we be a coach to talk about football or have opinions about what could or might be done better in some area. Just makin' conversation , all are free to agree or disagree.

Based on your logic Flipp, who are we to belittle the "fabulous" spread punt formation? We aren't coaches , so why are WE commenting on the subtleties of ST's when we haven't spent countless hrs pounding out a playbook? We are viewers of the game , some of us notice more nuance about the game than others but we still can watch with our eyes and make observations and come up with opinions based on what we see. Doesn't make us geniuses or smarter than Gregg Brandon, just makes us normal fans who have an great interest in their team and like to talk about it. I just wanna see all our best players playing if at all possible.

Maybe when you decide to comment objectively without throwing our players and coaches under the bus, then maybe you will get a lot more trust from people.

1) The Sebo ended up getting built.
2) We met the attendance requirements last year despite you complaining we wouldn't even though you didn't show up.
3) We're 3-1 despite our "undersized" players.

Shall I go on?

Again...you prove my point...you think that you somehow saw something with wrong with our punt formation that the coaches didn't see...you assume that they stuck with that formation even though we were struggling because they aren't as smart as you are or were.

Trust me...they're smarter than you are.

It's one thing to discuss performance....it's another to criticize the decisions made about specific players or the system in general when you don't have a fraction of the information the people making the decisions have.. Brandon Mack is a talented football player...he isn't playing because the guys who coach him think the people ahead of him are better...this is difficult for you to comprehend because....?

In regards to moving players around I have no problem with it. Like Flipper said these coaches get to see them in practice every day and know their strengths & weaknesses. They have far more information on the players than any of us can have because none of us have time to watch practice every day, analyze film, etc.

That said, I don't like how we've sometimes moved players multiple times in their careers. It should be quite obvious to anyone that doing that will never maximize that player's potential at any of those positions. It takes time to learn the nuances of a position, and moving players around multiple times is not a good idea, IMO. The coaches should figure out relatively early in that player's career where his best fit is to help the team; put him there & let him learn. When I see players bouncing around more than once I assume it's because they're not nearly as talented as we thought they were and they're just not good enough to get on the field at any of those positions.

As to the punt formation, there was an obvious flaw with it...it sucked. My logic on that is NOT that I think I'm smarter than our coaching staff and know something they don't. My logic is that I watch football a LOT every Saturday & Sunday, and often on weeknights. I cannot remember seeing that formation anywhere else. No, I don't instantly think I'm smarter than Brandon & Co., that's not why I bitched about that formation. I also don't believe that Gregg Brandon is smarter than every other coach in the history of the game and he's the one who just magically conceived the world's greatest punt formation. No, that formation was flawed in it's conception and I cannot imagine what in god's name made them try it, let alone stick with it when it was so awful.

Have to agree with you here. As a resident optimist, I'm hoping that this happened as GB tried to rectify unexpected holes in the roster and that we'll see less of it in the future. With such a young team, the staff should be able to see down the road a bit clearer.

Again, that's as a resident optimist with my orange-tinted glasses on.
