Great news on this today... Will fill in details tomorrow.

Long story short, L, 7, 1 will still be "my" seat. :-) I love BGSU!

It would never have happened in the first place at UT. The ushers wouldn't let you sit in the seat if you made a noise at all, but they wouldn't have taken it away. ;-)

Yeah... I know... life's been busy!

The great news is the seat will remain "mine." They re-structured how they're going to seat the arena and the general admission. I think it's a much more reasonable arrangement. No one holding season tickets will be displaced now. A great move! The ticket-holders spoke up, and the athletic department responded!

Next... I'm going to have lunch with some people to come up with a suitable memorial for my dad at section L, row 7, seat 1.... :-) That will be awesome!

Finally, I'm really amazed and thrilled with how people responded to my message. I heard from several people within the athletic department who were genuinely concerned and wanted to help... and DID help! BGSU is an amazing place... I'm happy to be a fan, a life-long supporter of Falcon athletics and an employee of the university. Seriously... what a great experience this has been!

Just catching up on some of the boards that I don't read very often. Your story is FANTASTIC!! I'm so impressed with how this has turned out for you and the other season ticket holders!! Kudos to the athletic department for listening to the FANS and especially to YOU!!!! :supz:
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Just how are they restructuring the seating? Are they doing away with GA season tix? I usually stand on the sidelines.

Not to stray from G's original topic, but a note on the restructuring;

While I love the atmosphere et al at Anderson, I'm not so sure I would be opposed to the AD restructuring the seating in AA. I love to stand on the floor and cheer on the team. But the idea of being down there has changed from what it should be.

I stand down there to cheer on my team and to make it harder for every opponent who runs past me. I'm not sure that's what the overall goal is anymore though. In the last few games of the season it seemed as though the focus for some was more the "hey look at me and how I love my school and other people aren't as zealous as me" type attitude.

I'm all for intense fandom. But when your idea of being a great fan interferes with other fans even being able to watch the game I draw the line. I'll proudly wear my Anderson Animals shirt to every game out of respect for what Metz was trying to accomplish, but I will no linger stand on the sideline. A great idea has been perverted into something else and I don't want to be a part of that.

I'm not knocking on everyone who stands on the sideline, just the people who are down there for the wrong reason. Ask yourself this question; if your girlfriend can't see the game because the Arena is packed and you chose to stand in front of her instead of letting her see the game, what kind of fan are you?

I think we should all move off the floor and cheer from the stands where we belong; along side people like G, Hammb, and Metz.

:? What? Care to elaborate a little on that? I dont' know of anyone who's down on the floor just for "publicities" sake in the slightest. I wish the whole student section was filled and the whole row on the floor had people standing and cheering. If your someone who wants to sit the entire game the student section just isn't for you IMO. So we should all vacate the floor and even standing now? I'm not sure what your point is really. You need to explain a bit more.

I'm sorry I hijacked the thread G.

I never said anyone had to sit down, nor will I sit down at games. I'm just not gonna stand on the floor so that even the people who stand in the student section can't see. Before you get upset over things I didn't say, you better make damn sure you know what I did say.

If you can't tell what I'm talking about, then pay it no mind.

So you mean , if the whole student section behind you isn't standing up as well , you'll sit down just to appease other fans who want to sit? I say, lead by example not fear what others will be bothered by at sporting event where the objective is to have home court advantage. I don't mean intentionally make things a pain for others but we are free to stand on the sidelines and make AA the dreaded place it can be. If others wish to sit and have perfect view of the game , go to another area. Sorry if this steps on toes but I've sorta had it with all the pc none sense that has gone on lately with fans in AA.

May take on this is, if sitting down the entire game is a premium to you , there are chairback seats higher up and on the opposite side of the student section for you to do so. I definitely have Freak's philosophy when it comes to this. Sorry for the rant too G.

As I already said, I stand for all of every game I got to. And you will certainly not find a more obnoxiously loud person to be around during the game. I'm not sure why I'm having this particular argument with someone who is present for precisely half of every men's basketball season.

Learn english, read what i wrote before making a rediculously off base statement, and show up at gametime to something other than WBB.

On the other and, maybe I should respect the opinions of such dedicated and loyal fans.
