Windsor Game

Post by NY-BG-FAN »

So far so good....BG with a fast start, 4-1 score with four mins left in the first.

I'm listening on the radio....very good stuff by Danny Nieves and Bob Mills.

3 of the four goals by frosh...wow. 2 of them by Sexton.

Mills is my roommate. He'll be on the ice with the club team after the game. He knows his stuff (so does Danny), it's nice to hear them doing a good job up there.

give those announcers some serious kudos! fine calling of the game, I was at Tamo for my daughters team tonight and listening in on the game, they did a great job play calling and by God finally announcers that understand its ok to give the score often! Love that!
the game sounded great. Sounds like when comp to State on this team were a bit better, but that is only a guide that proves our guys are BACK and game ready, lets get them riping it up like this league play! the game reminded me of OLD TIME FALCON hockey! I can not wait for the ND game its going to be great to see them in action in real games.

BG wins 12-1! Sexton got the hat trick on a shorty in the third.

Sure, it's only the annual season opening beatdown of Windsor, but 12 goals is 12 goals.

BG 12 Windsor 1

Post by Falconboy »

I don't remember us giving Windsor a beatdown quite like this. Last year was very close and it wasn't a good sign then. Its nice to see us give out a butt kickin, but who knows whether we're that much better this year or is Windsor even worse than last. Niagara and RIT shouldn't be tough tests either but maybe a bit better than Windsor possibly. ND on the 23rd will be THE test to see if we measure up at all. We'll find out if we can compete CCHA soon enough.

Wow! That's a heck of a score! Four field goals and a rouge for the Canucks.

I was at BDubs tonight and they had Michigan-BC on, and I was just thrilled to see some NCAA hockey on again, regardless of team.

Not to mention Mazzei also with a hat trick.

Did anybody really pay attention to the "Chant Cards" that were passed out? The goal chant listed has the "Goalie Sieve" chant and the "It's all your fault" chant. Hello, what are we, Michigan? Where's OUR chant?!? Has anybody in marketing or whoever put those cards out ever been to a game?

Other than the cards, it was a great night. Great to see some speed and talent. The potential is definitely there.

Sexton looked amazing. It seemed like every time you looked up he was on a breakaway skating circles around everyone on the ice.

Nice to see some actual offense being played too. After the first goal, it seemed like the dump and chase was gone for the rest of the game. I LOVE SEEING GUYS IN THE SLOT! It seemed like we didn't even have to play any defense tonight.

BTW, Merlini is a biatch.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Any scuffles this time around? Windsor usually gets pretty ticked off at some point in the game and things get chippy...any of that???

You can send your ideas to marketing or even the AD. I sent a list before the football season started to Mr. Christopher and a few of my suggestions are actually being used which is cool to see. That's what's nice about a school like BG.

There were about five of us in the student section doing the goal count. I just think people don't have enough exposure to it yet. We're trying though.

Uh.....yeah, you could say so. There were about 3 scuffles that I could remember, and one got pretty nasty and almost go out of control. I guess getting taken behind the woodshed and puttin' up only 1 goal will frustrate any team. We seem to have some chippy games with Windsor considering they aren't considered a rival , but maybe this could become one which is odd for just an exhibition game. The freshman showed their youth a bit with some cheap penalties though. We need to work on that a bit.

So YOU'RE the one responsible for "Sweet Caroline" and the mangled AZZ after first downs...

Dick. :-D
