GO BG!!!
Bowling Green
It's been 39 years since the Falcons went to the NCAA Tournament. In other words, Louis Orr will be given some time to make things right. The former Syracuse star and Seton Hall coach takes over a 13-18 team that is short on experience. Bowling Green's top scorer, Martin Samarco, is gone, leaving a roster that includes just one senior, Ryne Hamblet. There are bright spots. Junior Nate Miller was second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.1 points and 7.7 rebounds, and posted a triple-double with a 20-10-10 night against Buffalo. But there's no doubt that the expectations right now are based merely on slow and steady improvement, not overnight sensations.
Seems about right.

I'm not sure, we might want it sooner rather than later. I hope we can all be patient enjoy the new show in BG.Falcon137 wrote:But there's no doubt that the expectations right now are based merely on slow and steady improvement, not overnight sensations.

I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

I don't understand this reasoning. We haven't made the tournament in 39 years, so doesn't that mean we're starving for this type of success and that our patience is running thin? It won't happen immediately, but there is certainly a sense of urgency. Louis Orr himself understands this judging by the comments made by recruits.Falcon137 wrote: It's been 39 years since the Falcons went to the NCAA Tournament. While I don't expect an NCAA trip this year, a .500 showing in the conference is a reasonable goal after going 3-13 last year.

Ya know, I just don't agree. I think the potential IS there for an overnight turnaround. I do think that this team is capable of winning 20 games.Falcon137 wrote:This team will be better this year but there is not enough talent here to have an over night turnaround.

I think Coach Orr feels the same way... that there IS talent on this team. More than he originally thought.

I'm optimistic that we can see a pretty good improvement this year.
Losing Samarco is addition through subtraction as far as I'm concerned. He was your typical NBA style scorer. He'll get his points, but to the detriment of the team. He had no business shooting as much as he did last season, and yet he still kept putting up the 3's. Reminded me a lot of Antoine Walker.
If Chris Knight is half the player that he's been touted as he'll be a valuable addition.
I expect Nate Miller & Polk to show some good strides this year, that could help us immensely.
What I'm really interested to see, though, is how well our PG play improves. I don't think Hamblet is really suited to that role, but how many minutes will we get out of the St. John's kid? I think that will have the greatest impact on how far this team improves.
