It doesn't happen often, so I am shocked to have to correct you Freak. Ransom went done at MI State.

My buddies & I always joke around that Macon is the back of choice is the goal to see who can run to the sideline and get half a yard the quickest. Otherwise give me a RB that can see a hole.

I don't care about any evidence that has happened this year either, because in my memory he has yet to have a meaningful carry while the game was still on the line.

Bullock is by far our best (only?) pure RB. The fumbling issues are disheartening, but if he had a chance to get into a rhythm maybe things would change. The guy was outstanding as a true freshman last year he deserves to have an opportunity to grow as a player.

Frankly, I'd like to see the 2 rb offense like we almost tried to initiate a few seasons ago but never really got it going for one reason or another. I held my nose and voted for Bullock mainly cuz of the fresh in mind fumbles of the last game. As Hammb has said he's a our best pure rb. Geter would be my second choice followed by the obvious. Personally I'd love to see 3 wideout and 2 RB set with Bullock and Geter. You get the best of both worlds, the power and vision of Bullock and the speed and quickness and hands of Geter. Seems like a simple solution to me. Hmmm....but if only GB would entertain this idea. :-k

Bullock isn't exactly immune to putting the ball on the carpet either. Macon has been inconsistent at best over the course of his career, Bullock doesn't seem to be much of a threat to catch the ball, Geter is a bit of a wee little sprite. I'd like to see us mix things up a bit...run Geter and Winovich between the tackles, throw the occasional swing pass to Bullock or Macon. As it sits now...when Winovich is back there they know it's a pass. When Geter is back there it's either a pass or a pitch to him (unless he's in motion, then it might be an inside hand off) and if Bullock is in there it's probably a run up the middle.

It's been said by myself and others, but bring back the pitch option to the slot WR. Freddie Barnes would bust off some nice gains with that play...assuming Sheehan presents enough of a running threat that the defense doesn't just swarm to Freddie
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Agreed. Exactly how does Bullock not warrant significant carries after last year?
Because there was a video on BGSU Athletic site this spring with GB talking about how Bullock doesn't have his head in the right place. Everytime he runs it he fumbles, everytime he goes out for a pass he runs the wrong route, and everytime he's in to block he misses his assignment. So that he was in "the doghouse" and would most likely get his eyes opened from competiton that he didn't have last year. Ex: Ransom & Geter.

Now about Macon getting amble chances... when was this? He had a bad ankle injury last year which really slowed him up. Also last year is pretty much THE ONLY year in which GB called a significant amount of running plays, so of course that is going to make Bullock's stats look huge. I got nothing against the kid, in fact I've been praying that he would grow on me. But his fumble at Miami just about sent me over the edge. We throw the ball all dang game and then we finally call our 1st running play and he fumbles on his own? BARF ON ME. I knew the game was over right then.

STATS from 2006, don't forget Macon had a bum ankle MOST of the year

Bullock- 160car 769yds 4.8ave 4TD Long of 30
Macon- 72car 387yds 5.4ave 1TD Long of 54

I couldn't find any stats on fumbles, but I sure know Bullock has had some. Also they don't include running the wrong routes and missing blocking assignments in the stats either. Bullock is no PJ Pope so get over it. Give Macon 100 carries this year and if he has a worse average, more fumbles, more missed blocking assignments etc. then try someone else. Bullock is the one who has had his chance factoring in our play calling and injuries.

This was my reaction. He's looked good in the limited time he's been given.

But blocking and catching? Not sure I can evaluate him on that kind of thing.

I have no idea about this question.

That's what I was saying right after the MSU game when we lost him. Hardly anyone was talking about us losing him because frankly, I don't think many people knew what we had in him because he wasn't here last year and he only played one and a half games. There was never any intent to run the ball in either of those two games (as stated by Brandon when he said he felt we had to throw 50-60 times to win vs. those two). There was a reason he was starting over all the guys we have to turn to now. We lost our starting RB in game two and hardly anyone blinked an eye, until now, when we're in a real bind.

I love me some Dan Macon. What a great kid, both on and off the field. Still, so far as the question goes about him starting, boy did he miss two HUGE blocks out of the backfield today. Blatantly. It killed me to see him, because I would love nothing more than to see him succeed in his senior year, but JHC can you not miss blocks straight up the gut by turning your body to the outside.

Willie Geter is FAST out of a cut. FAST is an understatement, by the way. :)
