Question about Vrvilo's FG...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

From where I was sitting, I thought the 49 yarder hit the crossbar and bounced over. The Blade reported it would have been good from further away.

Can anyone confirm? Most of us were 100 yards away but I could have sworn it hit the crossbar.

In any event, Vrvilo is doing very well. 8-10 on FG's, including a 55 yard attempt to end the 1st half at Sparty...25-25 on XP's. Just awesome.

ON the all-maccess video feed it appeared to make it by aout 5-7 yards. Bill Needle, who was doing the radio play-by-play for Kent and on the video feed said pretty early on that it had the distance.

From where I was sitting (opposite 40), it hit the crossbar. It looked like it was doubtful distance-wise the whole way.

Vrvilo is the man. Does he have a shot at the NFL? I'm just glad our place kicking is set for this year and next. Where did Ellis and Rojas go anyway?

Todd Walker said it had plenty of distance.

Vrvilo is as good as Suisham, and he's in the NFL.

That FG was huge.

I'll think about his NFL chances in January '09, thanks.

But yeah, he's solid.

I was on the 50 high up on BG's side, and it appeared to clear with plenty of room.

THe FG counted for 3pts...that's all that matters. Sinisia will be fine in the NFL...he's like another Sebastian Janikowski without all the rape drugs. Teams love guys who can make kicks without committing sexual assaults

The radio guys also thought it would have been good from further away. So, maybe, the press box offered a different perspective.

It did land on something then bounce up, but it wasn't the crossbar. Might have been the top of the fence running beyond the back of the end zone.

I'll echo that the BG radio guys said very early that it has the distance, before saying whether or not it was good.

I also want to say add that if Sinisa wants to play in the NFL he must work on his kickoffs. I seem to recall that Suisham's kickoffs were MUCH better and I know that Janikowski consistently boomed it out of the endzone. In the NFL they use that K ball which makes it very difficult to consistently get distance on the ball...I've seen many kickers who were booming it out the endzone in college go on to barely get it to the goal line in the NFL. The way he's kicking off now those would be landing at the 10-15 yard line in the NFL, and that's really going to make it difficult for him to secure a roster spot.

Not that it's really an issue now, because he's been very good for us this year.

It definitely hit something -- if the radio guys said it cleared by plenty, it probably hit the upright base or crosspiece of the goalpost behind the crossbar.

Great kick, regardless. He misses that kick, and we might have been in trouble.
