Sickening Performance!!!
Sickening Performance!!!
That’s about the best way I can sum up our performance in tonight’s game. WTF was that?! Really, when is enough, enough? We put ourselves right back into the MAC race last week, we finally get a much-needed home game, and we come out tonight and do this? Are you kidding me? That was simply horrible. They ran the ball right down our throat time and time again. What did McRae have, 200 yards and 3 TD’s? Then we gave up big play through the air, and once again, turnovers, turnovers and more turnovers. I’m sorry, but we are not a better team than we were last season. We are just a newer version of last year’s poor squad. I don’t care how many wins we do or don’t claim this season, we are no better off. Tonight, we had a team in Ohio that had lost five of its last six games and was sitting in the basement of the MAC East and had far less on the line to play for than we did, and they just came into our house, punched us in the mouth, and pushed us all over the field.
I am just so fed up with this program, and for that matter, pretty much all of our men’s sports right now. It’s just more of the same, year after year, and tonight, I’ve about reached my limit. Year after year we just see more and more of the same – we see the same mistakes and poor execution, we continue to hear more and more excuses and phrases about not being prepared, how we didn’t execute, lack of consistency, etc., etc., etc. Enough is enough already! I love BG, I truly do. But I am so sick of wasting my time, money and hopes year after year on these events to just come away time and time again frustrated like this. The frustration clearly outweighs the enjoyment and I’ve reached my limit, and I’m simply through discussing it anymore.

I saw Charle's first fumble and it made me sick. ---- Lack of coaching. Running toward a ball to catch it (instead of being positioned under a ball) is always trouble. Usually the ball is going to bounce off of something, and it did. I saw it coming, felt it, said to myself, he's gonna fumble the ball and that's exactly what happend. It was a case of poor judgment. Gads, don't they practice these thing?????? Any punt return "specialist" should know this. I returned punts in HS and our coaches cautioned us (me) against this sort of thing all the time. The impact of a ball coming directly at you while you are moving toward it can produce an out-of-control force. ---- And unfortunately, this kind of judgment cost ballgames and it did last night. Dumb!!

If that was the best they had then we really should be disappointed. They were very beatable. Hopefully this team is still growing and they can make these types of games a distant memory real soon.cowboyjoe wrote:I think we ran into a team in OU that played like their No. 1 preseason ranking. They have underachieved all year.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
I'm so disillusioned with this program that the results of last night's game really didn't piss me off that much. I was hearing after the game everyone saying they were sick of Brandon, and I've been sick of Brandon for about 3 years now, but honestly, I guess I just expect this s**t anymore.
Last night there really weren't that many coaching decisions that led to the loss. Our team didn't play with much heart or intensity, and they sure as hell didn't play with fundamentals, but don't we expect that at this point? I mean it's been that way for years, so why the surprise?
Our defense sucks balls...but again we should expect that, shouldn't we?
We essentially lost the game on a flukey pick 6 and 2 muffed punts, along with a defense that couldn't make a stop to save their lives (until the end, which we wasted).
Like I said, I guess I just expect this anymore, maybe that's why I'm less angry than most other fans seem to be.
I will say that Brandon is now blaming Sheehan's shoulder on him playing so poorly, well then why the F*** is he still playing!? You have last year's starting QB on your bench, and you have another young player who has performed well in his limited time. USE ONE OF THEM AND LET THE KID REST HIS SHOULDER! Tyler has clearly been downright bad for the past month. If that's injury then let him rest...if it's not then we need to find a new starting QB.

I hate how we play, even when we win it is bad football. I have never seen a defense so bad at tackling. At the Temple game I knew we were in for a long season. We got lucky with a couple of strips in that game. You get lucky doing that once in awhile but in the long run you get burned over and over again. Horrible.
None of it surprise me though. It is Gregg Brandon football.

Nahhh. It wasn't his fault. If it weren't for Sheehan's shoulder....or family weekend....kdog27 wrote:I hate how we play, even when we win it is bad football. I agree 100%...if Sheehan is hurting, get him out of there. Glaud has shown he's capable of running the show...let's see what he can do prepped as a starter.
So far as the defense goes...Haneline has been stellar....annd I can't think of another guy who looks "all-MAC".

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

You hit the nail on the head hammb
Long time reader on AZZ, however, this is my first post and I just have to get this off my chest.
How can we even think about "All-Mac" performers this year?
After watching the game last night, it made me sick to my stomach to see such poor fundementals. I would hate to say it, but right now, there are a few HS teams in Ohio that would give BG a run for their money. Of course the dropped punts were painful to watch, I held my breath everytime as well, but being a punt returner has to the hardest positions on the field. Just have to let those roll next time if there is any doubt on catching it.
It was the horrific blocking and tackling that really stood out to me. Since when do they start teaching defenders to focus on stripping the ball instead of wrapping up? Is this what they practice all week on? I'm sorry, but that is bush-league ball. The Falcons CAN NOT live and die by forcing turnovers.
The offense looked good at times, especially coming out the second half. There seemed to be a nice selection of run/pass plays in a row, and we got a quick TD out of it. hmmmm? The "trick" plays have to go! Until we establish a consistant run/pass (i.e. J5 era) no good defense will bite.
How can we even consider to be on the same level of the OSwho's, BC's, Boise, with performances like this? Those teams play hard and execute all the time, and they get wins because of it. We definitely need to re-evaluate where this program is headed and not be afraid to shake things up if necessary.

When you control the mail, you control.... Information.
First welcome aboard, second I don't think theres a HS team in the country that would give BG much of a game. Thats like saying a college team could play with a pro team. Not every player on a HS team would get a scholarship just like not every on a college team would get drafted.festivusfalcon wrote:You hit the nail on the head hammb
