The correct response to "German's"? is "Don't stop him, he's on a roll"

If they win-out, and get a bowl game because the rest of the world falls apart, are we supposed to consider that gimme as being as good as a MAC title?

If they make a bowl game and it's not on the other side of the country, I may consider going, because it may be the last BG bowl game I'll be able to be a part of in person. I was at the Motor City Bowl, but that was it.

As blah as the MAC is this year? I'll take the bowl game...we'll get an extra month's worth of practice. Lord knows we need it

Uh huh. Right. A bowl we get for not other reason than the rest of college football sucks and we get a "default" bid, is better than a MAC title?

A bowl is nice, however you get it. But I'd hardly hold it up as a banner achievement, when you only have to manage a winning record to get it. And BG hasn't done that yet.

I want a MAC title.

But, a bowl is nothing to blow off. Especially if we were sitting at 10-2, but somehow not invited to a bowl, we'd complain about all the BCS schools that were getting in "for just being 7-5 or 6-6".

The extra practice reason was already pointed out, and the cash that comes in for a bowl appearance.. I'll take it. Not to mention that if we win three of four to end the season, everything would likely be sunny around here again...

Assuming the one loss wasn't to Toledo...

I certainly wouldn't complain about getting a gift bowl bid. I'd take the bid, use the extra practice time to grow the team, and go play the game.

That being said, I wouldn't say this is a successful season just because they made a bowl game either. The MAC has 3 bids and the conference is bad enough that there will likely only be 3-4 teams that are even bowl eligible.

That doesn't make me that proud to be one of those 3.

After watching half assed Big Ten teams and other BCS conf teams get bowl bids at 6-6 for years, I'll take a bowl bid at 7-5 pronto.

In any event, I don't think bowl talk is the thing to be discussing right now. We have to beat Akron...and then EMU....and then Buffalo...and dammit, we better beat that team up north this year.

That's pretty spot on, hammb.

And Freak, you got it. At this point, BG needs to just focus on the game in front of them. One thing at a time.

If we get to a bowl, good for us, at least we'd have salvaged something positive out of the season.
