I'm not calling you a fairweather fan at all. I was saying that you are the exception. Most OSU fans are. They go from a heaven send one week to every four letter word you can think of with one loss. I said this was not directed at you because I know you support them.

I watched the game cuz its a great rivalry. I didn't care who won. OSU played a great game while UM looked like they quit after going up 14-7.

Ginn is unreal...and Smith looks like he has been watching game films of Josh Harris and Omar Jacobs.

Justin who? Zwick might as well transfer his overrated butt to another school.

i started the thread and i am not a fairweather fan. my dad has had season tickets since i was 5. never missed a home game till i came here. and ohio state is relevant on here because i am tired of all the buckeye bashing. you say to keep osu out of it but all you people do is bash OSU. when osu loses you people make threads just to celebrate it. BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS A BGSU BOARD? so why make threads just to bash or make fun of the bucks? hypocricy makes everyone look like an idiot. If buckeye fans are not allowed to celebrate the win of the biggest game of the year, then why dont you take your own advice and stop talking about OSU as well?

with that said, I love the falcons as much as any of you and they have a job to do tuesday. havent missed a home game in the 5 years i have been here and been to several away games including motor city bowl last year. Just because i am an osu fan doesn't mean i don't care about my own school. so let's get a win tuesday. Tuck Foledo :finga: :finga: :finga:

I feel dirty...

Well, as mentioned earlier, I had the opportunity to go to the OSU-UM game Saturday. I don't have any OSU shirts or whatever so I went to Meijer on Thursday to get a long-sloeeve T to wear. I was ashamed of myself as I overlooked some cool BG wear to pick out something in scarlett and grey. I felt like i was betraying my team.

I did still wear my BGSU hat to the game and when I put on my brown and orange jacket, you couldn't see the OSU shirt anyway. :-\ So we take our seats before the game and the only thing the lady next to me said to me the whole day was "You better have some red on." I just shrugged my shoulders and ignored her.

FWIW, as a college football fan, it is a great experiences to go to a OSU-UM game, whether you are rooting for either team. And especially for my 11 year old son. Yes, I have him brainwashed as a BG fan, but to just witness the mania of over 100,000 all decked out and supporting their team is something to see. I can only dream of the day that the same thing happens at BG.

Tekekini and everyone else defending OSU (which is ludicrous),

If you all haven't noticed, perhaps the reason that there is a lot of OSU bashing around our board and other MAC boards is because OSU sucks up football fans and makes it extremely difficult for mid-majors in this area to get fans in seats. Its gotten to the point that BGSU, Toledo, Miami, etc. can't scheduel a game at or around a Buckeyes game.

Look at last week. We had a GREAT game going against Marshall. It was a close, edge of your seat game at halftime, yet there were hoards of students leaving the game to go and watch OSU lose to Purdue on T.V. That is inexcusible. If you need further proof, look at the EMU game against NIU this weekend. I realize EMU hasn't put a good product on the field for quite a while, but when you've got a team like NIU coming into town you would expect more than 4,500 people in the seats. But, that is exactly what happened because EMU made the grave error of schedueling the game at the same time OSU was playing Michigan.

Heck, BG is clearly the best team in Ohio, but how many people would you hear saying that in state media? None. None because stupid Buckeye fans would start screaming and threatening lawsuits for liable and slander. I mean, seriously, how dare anyone say that another D-1A school in the state claim superiority in any way to the Buckeyes? I mean look at them! They have a 100,000+ seat stadium!!!!!! Give me a f***in' break...

So, you'll have to excuse us if some of us don't particularly like the Buckeyes around here. There is some great football played at schools in Ohio other than in Columbus. We're all D-1A schools, so the Buckeyes can kiss my ass if they think they are automatically better than ANYONE.

And don't give me any crap about tradition, either, because every school has tradition. Some schools are just willing to throw more money at their traditions to sell them. I would make the argument that Doyt Perry was just as good of a coach as Woody Hayes was, but that would be insane, right? Wrong. Get over yourselves. If you want to be a Buckeye fan, thats fine, but let us have one place we can go without hearing about them. If I wanted to hear about Ohio State football I could simply open up any paper or watch any newscast in the state of Ohio any given day of the year.

And I don't think a few of us talking badly about the Buckeyes is going to really hurt OSU's bottom line, so don't feel that you need to defend them you whiny little brat! :duh:

GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!

I sat in the middle of the OSU student section for the first half (I *had* to stand on the sidelines with friends in the second half), with my orange BGSU sweatshirt on, and as I waved down to the field to a friend working the sidelines as Michigan ran out onto the field, the guy behind me tugged my shirt and said "You're not cheering for THEM, are you? You're BGSU, you should be on our side!" I just had to laugh, said I was a BG fan there for the atmosphere. He turned out to be pretty knowledgeable of the MAC and what was going on, so he was cool. The drunken 18 year olds in the rest of the section needed to jump off the back of the stands, though.

In the parking lot before the game, I had a guy get a big smile and come up to me like I knew him, but it turns out he went to Toledo, and we talked about the game Tuesday. He asked who our quarterback is, and I regret not telling him to call me at halftime Tuesday to see what he has learned. Inside the stadium, I had two people stop and give me a high five with a loud "GO BG!", and saw an older man on the field afterwards with a BG hat on. (Oh yeah, and some hottie in a bar later gave a "drive by" high five and a GO BGSU!")

Oh, and before I let a perfectly good  thread get jacked here, seriously, take your "GO BUCKS" crap elsewhere. After one game did specific OSU trashing occur, and it was stopped by the time they lost their next two. Aside from the talk of BG being the best team in Ohio, there has been little or no bashing of your beloved Buckeyes. To put the broken record back on the turntable again, we know people are fans of both teams, we know people still want BG to win (as long as its not while OSU is on TV), but this board is brown and orange for a reason. Move along, and lets talk BG!

speaking of meeting toledo fans...

there was a guy waiting at the bus stop with me wearing a toledo jacket. I of course had my BG hat on, so I made some small talk. He went there for school back in the day was all, seemed to be a nice guy. Just thought it was funny to see a toledo jacket in the middle of downtown Cinci at my bus stop.

I was in the end zone in the closed end, more toward the Michigan sideline. At some point in the second half, I saw someone down on the sideline with an orange BGSU sweatshirt. That must have been you. Guess I can sort say that "I've met Tony."

Yup. That was me. We spent most of the time up and down the Michigan sideline, stood in the corner at the closed end for awhile (did ya see the girl with the light green jacket and the headset on? she was the "wind gauge" for ABC TV, and man was she smokin!!! :D )

I also talked to a guy from Kalamazoo radio in the parking lot after the game, funny that he didn't mention my BG sweatshirt...

First off, I don't see anybody on here who has disagreed that BG probably could beat osu this year. i do not see anyone on here who disagrees that bg and toledo and miami put a good product on the field. and i do not see anyone on this board who does not think that the mid majors should get more attention. but there is more to it than that.

of course OSU gets more media attention than BG, Miami, and UT. Why is that? They come from a big city, their freshman class is bigger than our whole frickin school. BG has horrible location. the only city we have is Toledo. majority of those people root for UT i'm sure, with the exception of some BG alumn's and BG parents. yes, it sucks but its the facts. the fact that we are in the MAC drags us down too. Who in the world, besides BG fan's would want to watch us destroy western michigan and eastern, and kent and akron, and whoever the hell else we play? when we and ESPN and the rest of the country know we are going to blow them out of the stadium, its not going to get any coverage. We have one or two attractive games a year. thats it.

I do condemn the fact that some people on this campus leave the football games to go home and watch OSU. I, personally, do not do so. you can always find the score later.

but why do you think boise state gets so much attention as a mid major? because Idaho has nothing else in the boring ass state besides broncos football and rodeo clowns. We have to compete with toledo, with miami and of course ohio state for fans. ohio is not that big of a state and it is too divided among too many good football teams. but since the MAC is weak overall in competition., and the mainstream conference schools have prime locations, they are going to dominate the attention of the media, they are always going to have the most fans. thats just the way it is.

I do wish BG could get more attention, i do wish we were not in the MAC anymore. The best thing that could happen to us is either joining the BIG East, or the BCS making the MAC a BCS conference. I seriously doubt that the MAC will be a BCS conference so guess what we need to do.
leave the MAC and Toledo's silly asses behind and beat the hell out of the west virginia hillbilly's and pitt panthers all year long.
