Gregg Brandon...
Again, THAT felt like BG football (on offense). I haven't seen a game since BC, but it's almost like we're afraid to throw our offense out there regularly for fear of someone picking up on it and it not being there when we need it. Three years ago, we'd just put our balls on the table and make teams stop us. I love when that comes back as it did vs. Kent State and again last night.

Yikes! Wherever that was happening, I'm glad I missed it. Would've been traumatic for a freshman.TG1996 wrote:Three years ago, we'd just put our balls on the table

I agree. BG entered the 4th quarter up 41-6???!!!! And some people still find something to bitch about.Flipper wrote:Amen...I don't know what people are bitching about today...we let their QB run around for some meaningless yards between the 20's and took away everything else...shoot, I guess they'll just have to try for perfection next week.
I was elated with the team's performance. One thing I would like to see improve is the kickoff coverage.
Overall, fine performance and time to get another win Friday night.

It was a very well coached game. We beat Akron by more points than Jim Tressel did. Not trying to prove any points about that, other than don't complain!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!
Shouldn't that be the goal every week for any team or anyone?Flipper wrote:Amen...I don't know what people are bitching about today...we let their QB run around for some meaningless yards between the 20's and took away everything else...shoot, I guess they'll just have to try for perfection next week.

Offense looked great. Defense was lucky as hell. Akron killed themselves with mistakes time after time. Our defense is swiss cheese and just got very lucky that Akron shot themselves in the foot over and over. Many of us close our eyes to the poor defense. However, against any team with an offense, the defense is exposed for the swiss cheese that it is.

I've only seen Akron play twice this year (BG and OSU). But in both games it was clear that Akron doesn't run well in the redzone. They run well when they have space, but choke against redzone defenses.
BG beat Akron a lot the way that OSU did. They kept Akron out of the endzone early on, and once they put a few scores on the board Akron had to start passing the ball. Once that happened, Akron folded. Akron got a few scores against us late in the game once it was already out of hand, but that is neither here nor there.
Greg Brandon.....needs to get our run defense fixed or we will lose two of our last three.

I agree. Heck we were missing Nick Davis, Jacob Hardwick, Jarrett Sanderson and Joe Schaefer Friday night...and then lost John Haneline as well...we're banged up on D but the younger kids stepped up. Whether Akron shot themselves in the foot or not, they kicked 2 FG's in the first three quarters. 6 total points. Lighten up, Francis.Flipper wrote:When your defense forces TO's...you cannot say the other team shot themselves in the foot. Our defense has not been good very often this year, but I have no complaints (other than a few missed tackles) with the way they played on Friday.

Toledo right now might rip us apart...they're clicking on all cylinders. I hope the D can sack it up for 3 more games...I know there are many injuries but a lot of young players are stepping up.mmisbg wrote:I've only seen Akron play twice this year (BG and OSU).
