If you're only going to come for 1/2 the game, why wouldn't you show up at halftime and watch the 2nd half when the game is decided. These people, many of whom are my fellow students, regularly leave at half/3rd quarter when the game is tied or within a one touchdown lead. Why on earth would anybody leave a close game like that?! I don't get it and I probably never will.Dr. Reality wrote:
The second half is not the half BG decides its games in. Everything we do is in the first half. We either come out strong and win, our come out flat and lose. Only twice since 2004 that I can recall have we either lost or come back in a second half; UT in 2004, and Buffalo last year. Every other game since then has been decided by the first half of play, and that is why people don't stay for the second half. Football isn't very exciting to watch when you're beating a team by thirty points or so, and it is more frustrating than most people are willing to sit through when you're losing and showing no signs of life.
Play exciting football, and people will stay for the end of the game. I just wish people would stick around to hear beer barrel. I'll bet maybe 15% of the student population has ever even heard the song before.
