May I ask why? I (and everyone else here) loved how great her writing was last year about us.VDub26Falcon wrote:It means I don't read things written by Maureen Fulton.
Check out our new BGSU hockey site: http://www.bgsuhockey.com
Maureen did a great job covering BG, both in the paper and when she started her blog. Ryan A. is coming around with some good stuff, but I still miss MoFu on the BG beat sometimes.

My Falcon's women's experience goes back to the days of Lori Albers and Fran Voll and a handful of games prior to that with the Coach before Fran.Falconboy wrote:Well if this is all true, then last year is the first I've heard about us not having Lady Falcons as our official nickname. I started using it way back whenever for a few main reasons, 1. cuz it sounded logical at the time,2. I'm sure I've heard the team referred to in that manner elsewhere (radio announcers) or in other places. Maybe others are doing it wrong too. Since that moniker is sorta hotwired into my keyboard finger memory it'll be tough to remember to not use it , but I'll give it a go.
I distinctly remember Katie McNulty saying "Don't call us Lady Falcons."
I had an email conversation with Todd Walker a couple of years ago and I thought the Lady Falcons issue was resolved. I try to keep it light and just simply state that untiil we refer to the men's team as Gentlemen Falcons that we shouldn't refer to the Women as Lady Falcons. Dave Hoerger doesn't make that mistake.

Someone want to "Ask the AD" to ask the various womens' programs? Let's get an official answer.
It seems to be a second class name to me but I worked with a female athlete whom I mentioned this to years ago and she liked being a Lady Whatever in HS and college and didn't understand the problem. She was quick to defend womens' and girls' athletics. She would have never let anyone put them down so I guess she never felt insulted but I like Falcons(W) and Falcons (M) personally.

I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
