Which loss is worse?

Talk about the Buckeyes the Wolverines the Hilltoppers the Ducks the Beavers the Chanticleers... or anyone else who isn't BG or an opponent in this forum.

Which loss is worse?

I know a loss is a loss is a loss but which loss is worse; Gardner-Webb 9-21 last year, picked to finish 8th in the Atlantic Sun drilling #22 Kentucky 84-68 at Rupp or 1AA Appalachian State beating #5 Michigan in the big house?

In a bubble, I'd say the Kentucky loss is worse, considering they just flat got run off their floor from the start.

In the grand scheme of things, the Michigan loss is obviously more damaging, since there is less of a chance to recover from any loss in college football. Kentucky has 30 more games to go .500 and get their shot at winning six straight in March.

For my nickel, I'd still say the Appy State/Michigan game. Simply, I think it's a matter of scale - there are so many more people involved in a football game than a basketball game.

In all honesty Findlay might have more talent than Gardner Webb does. But I can't say either Michigan St. or OSU is a bad loss since it was preseason.

Appalachian St. beating UM is a bigger upset then Kentucky losing. Basketball has much more parity. Plus I doubt Kentucky is any good. Coming off a poor year by their standards and a new coach do they really deserve to be in the top 25. They were ranked on their name only. Michigan's loss was a shocker and a top 5 team losing to a 1-AA team (or whatever they are called now) is unheard of.
