I like that steak comes from cows. That is why a cow will not think twice about eating you.
That is a pretty good article. I'm not that sure JJ would contend for freshman of the year mainly because he is a ball-handler and not a scorer. He is going to be good don't get me wrong but I would give it to Chris Knight. This weekend is going to be a homecoming for him and I hope he will show up and make a name for himself and Bowling Green as they try and stay undefeated. Go Falcons!!!

"I don't think our big guys, Otis and Marc, are ready to be prime-time post scorers yet. That's something they'll grow into," Orr said.
I'm a bit disappointed in that assessment , but I kinda figured as much. We won't be a serious Mac Champioship contender much less contend for an NCAA berth without a respectable post game from someone. Marschall was probably our best athletic post but he's out. Nate is a tweener and not really a true 4 , Knight is probably our best option in the post right now. Its nice to hear that Orr is honest about it.

The position of point guard, when played as a true point guard, is the most under rated position on the floor. If Jakubowski averages, say, 9 points, 12-13 assists a game, he could definitely contend for Freshman of the year. And 12-13 assists is about how many a point guard should have every game.

I think your expectations for a PG are way off the charts high.VDub26Falcon wrote:The position of point guard, when played as a true point guard, is the most under rated position on the floor. Who was the last PG to average 12-13 assists a game? If he averaged that many assists with 9-10 ppg I'd have him near the top of the ballot as MAC player of the year, let alone FotY.
The NBA hasn't had a player do that since 1994 (Stockton, who did it a lot). And mind you they play an additional 8 minutes each game. College stats are a little tougher to find. ESPN goes back to the '01-'02 season and there hasn't been a player since then that even averaged 9 assists per game.
I think your expectations are way out of whack...
And Falconboy you're wrong on us needing a post presence. Very few college teams (MAC especially) have great post players. If you get the rare star at the post it's a major advantage, but it's not required. College is, and will be, a guard dominated game. If we get consistent guard play we'll be better...the post game is just icing.

Just as comparison....stats from a few of the top returning PG's this year.
Darrin Collison UCLA-5.7 assists 12.7 points
Drew Lavender, Xavier-4.8 assists 11.8 points
Drew Neitzel Mich. St.- 4.3 assists 18.1 points
