this team is exciting again

Post by Globetrotter »

At least I think it is based off the stat sheets. So far some things are jumping out. Ryne Hamblet has 7-2 Assist to turnover ratio. polk has 3 blocks a game. We are 1-1 having beat a decent team. Our most consistent player is not shooting well but we are still playing well. Chris Knight is as advertised. The Center position is averaging 19 pts a game. We are doing this all without Eric Marschall and just a 9 man rotation.

Now that Dusan is gone does Karaffa get his schollie for the year?

Is Madlock going to be redshirted like some speculated?

Why have a free scholarship and a walk on paying to play?

My favorite thing is the BALANCED scoring. It's not one or two guys like in the past. They now have three or four guys who can score in double figures consistantly. It's early, but I am optomistic (I felt the same way last year). Stay tuned!

Dusan will remain on scholarship and in school for the remainder of the school year. That's a class move and the RIGHT move, if you ask me.

Grant, I completely agree.

Is he going to remain around the team....

for all of you undergrads forming intramural basketball teams I think you might have a ringer

Does that mean Dusan will finish this year at BG , but leave next year? How does this affect our schollies for '08. If Dusan is planning on transferring after this year , that should open up a 3rd schollie for Orr to give out I hope.

I don't know if he's going to remain around the team or not, but my guess is not. He will continue to be enrolled at BG for the rest of the year and then will evaluate his options after the spring is what I've been told. Don't know if he'll head back home or if he'll look to play at another school here in the states.

Good call on the Intramurals though! Might not be DI caliber, but he could kill at the Rec or the Fieldhouse! ;-)

I agree 100%. He did nothing but give his all to the program. He simply isn't blessed with D1 skills.

All scholarships have been spoken for regarding 08-09.

Ryan Sims, Joe Jakubowski, Darryl Clements, Brian Moten, Chris Knight, Nate Miller, Carlos Madlock, Erik Marschall, Otis Polk, Marc Larson and NEWCOMERS Darnell Brown, Scott Thomas and Austin Calhoun.

That's 13 folks without Guerin and Dusan. One way or another, we will continue to bring in athletes and continue to get players for this system.

Welcome to the new age of defensive-minded, athletic basketball that the rest of the MAC has been playing for the last 8-10 years.

An athletic grant-in-aid is awarded for the academic year (in this Dusan will receive the award for the 2007-08 academic year) and is renewable on a yearly basis. The only way the grant could be pulled at this time, would be if the player in question did something that was a major violation. In this case, with Coach Orr and Dusan agreeing that Dusan would leave the team, there would be no cause for concern about Dusan losing his grant.

Best of luck to Dusan in the future.
