GMAC Bowl: Memphis vs. Bowling Green

Any thoughts? Would any of you come down? Hopefully the weather will be better this time.

Interesting... they have BG winning the MAC East in that scenario. Or at least someone else winning the East, but BG with the bowl bid.
I didn't make the trip last time, and probably couldn't make it this time, but everything I heard about Mobile and the Memphis fans seems to make it a good time.

I would be there in a heartbeat. I'd hitchike if I had to. Ya'll put on a wonderful show down there, and the people are great. I've been hoping for another GMAC Bowl bid since the clock hit zero in '04.

Ditto on a bowl trip. I've never been to a BG bowl game, and I've been hoping for a GMAC bid all year.

AW, I'd pick you up and take you.... we can't leave you at home! Or your dad! And hell, we might as well pick up Tony and the new bride, (just leave the doggies home).Bleeding Orange wrote:I would be there in a heartbeat. I'd hitchike if I had to. Lord, I still have beads from the last trip and I am taking my umbrella and boots!
But I agree, beating Buffalo comes first!

Southern Miss is going to be busy playing in both the Texas and PapaJohns.com bowls (as of 8:50 am Monday).MobileBama wrote:http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootba ... redictions

CBS also has Oklahoma v. Kansas in the Fiesta Bowl. I find it highly unlikely that the Fiesta Bowl would select a second Big 12 team.

I'd do my best to make it back down there again, but budget a little bit more time for traveling, like fly down the day before the game instead of last time where we flew in there at 2 and to the stadium at 5.
Bad weather? Whats the problem with paying for things the rest of the trip with wet cash?
With the game switched to after the New Year, the threat of spending a cancelled flight layover in Charlotte for XMas Eve has been eliminated.

With the game moved to Sunday, it really makes for a fun weekend in Mobile. Especially Saturday night downtown with the Mardi Gras parade and pep-rallies. I would assume travel would be easier and more fans could come down with the Sunday kickoff.
I'll be watching to see who gets the invite and I'll come back and share as much Mobile info as I can.

The parade alone is worth the trip. Mobile really does pull out all of the stops for this event, and I honestly can't imagine a better all-around bowl experience. The Motor City Bowl is nice, but it isn't a regional focuse the way the GMAC is.MobileBama wrote:With the game moved to Sunday, it really makes for a fun weekend in Mobile.
