Wednesday Night Football: Akron at Miami
I repeat... Having zero offensive points against any MAC team should automatically eliminate you from winning the division and/or going to a bowl game. Could you imagine if we had this kind of offense in any game? We would be calling the suicide prevention hotline. This board goes crazy if we "only" 17 points in a game. We went thru Akron's defense to the tune of 28 first downs, 44 points, and 517 total yards of offense.
Well what would you say about a team that loses by 30 at home to a 1-AA school? Or gives up 70 points to anyone? Let's call them MAC West Champs. Face it, there aren't any MAC teams this season without their share of ugly blemishes.cowboyjoe wrote:I repeat... Well put. It is for this reason that I hope Miami crushes CMU. I really don't want THAT blemish on the MAC.doughash wrote:Well what would you say about a team that loses by 30 at home to a 1-AA school? Or gives up 70 points to anyone? As much as it pains me to say it, I want Miami to win out from here.

Wait though...As of today, Miami is 5-1 in the MAC, BG is 4-2 and Buff is 4-2. So this weekend, if BG wins, it goes to 5-2 if Buffalo wins, they are 5-2. So, if Miami loses to Ohio in the last weekend, they end the seaon 5-2 in the MAC. If the winner of the BG/Buff game wins its last game, they are 6-2. So if Miami is 5-2 and BG or Buff is 6-2, wouldn't the 6-2 team win the East?Falconfreak90 wrote:I agree, Den. Even though BG is now out of the division race, playing meaningful games in Nov is great. And with all the talent coming back in 08, we should be in the thick of things again. We still have 2 games to win and then, very possibly, a bowl game. So much to play for yet!Class of 61 wrote:Mike,Falconfreak90 wrote:Lou cannot talk without stumbling all over himself. Miami can clinch the East Sat when BG, I mean, if BG beats Buffalo.![]()
IF Buffalo wins, Miami will need to beat Ohio the following week to clinch...no matter the outcome of Buff/Kent State. If MU loses to OU, Buffalo will win the East if they win out. I think....lol.
I"ll admit I haven't followed all the "scenarios" possible in the East, but it would seem that you're right in that MU would then have TWO losses and UB would have ONE (assuming they beat BG)... Got to admit, even with the frustrating games against Miami and OU, this has been a very exciting, "who's on first?" type season in the East.
GO FALCONS!

Only divisional games count because Temple sucks.

Nice try, though! I wondered the same thing but this division BS must change. We need to drop, um...oh, why start this again? LOL!CapitalFalcon wrote:Gotcha..
