This was in one of the newsfeeds I saw today....
According to the Newark Star-Ledger newspaper, Nets basketball boss Rod Thorn "didn't even consider Keith McLeod this time around."
The Nets reportedly tried to get the ex-Jazz point into camp this summer but didn't because currently unemployed McLeod was seeking guaranteed money.

This was indeed the case. I was talking to one of the guys here in Cleveland that represents Keith and they did have several invites for Keith to NBA camps this summer. However, the turned them down because he was holding out for the guaranteed money his years of NBA service dictated. He could have waived that right and come in under a non-guaranteed contract at a much loweer number.
Keith is waiting for someone to need a veteran point guard. They thought it might happen as the tems broke camp. It hasn't happened yet. Now they are waiting on an injury situation to come up.
This update from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer...
"Seattle SuperSonics point guard Luke Ridnour's MRI exam revealed a torn left quadriceps. Ridnour is expected to miss two to four weeks and more likely four, leaving the Sonics with essentially 1 1/2 point guards: Earl Watson and combo guard Delonte West.
Available free-agent guards are John Lucas, Earl Boykins, Junior Harrington, Keith McLeod and, oh yes, Gary Payton, who has yet to retire. Or the Sonics could re-sign Jermaine Jackson."
