Trek from Columbus, Supporters Club Info

Post by Columbus_Zak »

Not that our alumni chapter even knows that there's a game going on, but...

Anyone going to make the trip up? I have a carload that'll probably take off around 8am.

Perhaps we could all meet up at a designated point in the Doyt parking lot.

Just a thought as this might be a good opportunity to get together and talk about plans for a BGSU Sports Supporters Club in Cols. Any thoughts on starting a club or meeting up?

Well, I don't really live in Columbus anymore, but I'll be there for break and will be heading up with my family that morning. I don't know how much good I'd be to a Columbus group, but my parents might be interested in it.

I'm not sure where we'll be in the DLP lot yet, but I'm thinking somewhere in the vicinity of the AZZ tailgate.

We will be at the Doyt this Friday, in the vicinity of the usual Ay-Ziggy tailgating area.

Excellent. Where is the standard tailgate area?

I'm completely serious though about starting up the Cols Supporters Group. I don't think it needs to be very formal, just wanted to mention it. I'm thinking the real work won't start until mid-summer when bars will have to be contacted to work out the tv deal and drink/food specials.

The heads of the Columbus alumni chapter do not care about this game their team played last Saturday in Michigan. There hasn't been one watch party announced this season.

Years ago, Mrs. Major and I officially headed the Columbus Chapter. It was always a challenge to work around the other school in town.

I like the idea of an informal group, not tied to the university bureaucracy.

Really? I got an email in response to the "AyZiggyZoomBARS" page I'm trying to start up, and they said there's a bar in Hilliard that they have BG games on every week. (Then again, this email was sent in September)

I know the people running the Columbus Chapter pretty well, and they've done an admirable job. Unfortunately, sporting events don't seem to be a part of the calendar unless there's a watch party organized by the university.

The only thing I'm trying to accomplish is a central gathering point where BG fans can get together. It's still early days; perhaps if the Bball team is on tv we can have a test run during the winter.

You're right, there is a bar in Hilliard that has our team on; at least I think they do. I believe they are somehow affiliated with Junction up in BG.

Yeah, that's it. I thought the name was ironic until I saw the logo for the place.

Let me know if you get something organized, even if there's not an "official" event, it's cool to know there's somewhere you can go and likely run into Falcon fans.

There is a Junction in Hilliard owned by the same guy who owns the Junction in BG from my understanding. Its a nice place, but tucked off the beaten path a bit. Thus it is usually an interesting crowd to say the least. However they have Jalepeno Cheese cubes that are the shiznit. I would venture to say that if any place has a BG game on whenever it is on, that is the place.

It's off of cemetery road behind a carwash.

Zak - I like the idea of an informal group for watch parties. Post some information if you think about getting something together during bball season.

This seems like an idea that can go places. All of my BG room mates live here in the Columbus area.

We should at least try to get a group for the BG hockey game at the Schott. Assuming there is one there this year. I'm too lazy to look right now...
