UT Secret Weapon

Post by Falcon137 »

So what was this secret weapon UT fans were talking about? And what did we have. Didn't make it out to the tailgate area today.

According to Ranger Rocket on the UT board, it was a small noisemaker. They were able to make a lot of noise, but - as he stated - they didn't have a lot of cheer about.

I like the premise and the follow-through, personally.

I heard what sounded like an air horn on TV while we were on offense early in the first half, so I can only assume that this was the "brilliant, game-changing" technique those idiots up north came up with. I didn't hear it much after the first quarter, so I'm assuming that stadium staff confiscated the stupid things form the UT faithful. If it was anything else, it certainly wasn't anything that ESPN would "eat up," as RangerRocket put it on their rent-a-board. What a bunch of morons.

Don't get me wrong, I always respect our opponents, and I respect the players that UT traveled today. I am always amazed, though, by how utterly childish UT fans get during this week. But, perhaps I shouldn't be at this point. It felt so good for our guys to go out there and put a whooping on theirs today! Now, off to a bowl! :D

We were all getting along nicely with their fans tailgating until one of them decided to look our way and yell "Bowling Green is a F-ing S-hole" at the top of his lungs right in front of Freak's children.

True class.

And what makes it worse is that it did not even make sense. It's not like they were in Detroit.

I heard what sounded like horns as well. I immediately worried about my car. You never know about those Toledo people and stealing things. Luckily my horn was still there when I got back. I prayed ten "Hail Marys" over my car before I left, I was worried it would get broken into. There were even people trying to scalp tickets...HELLO, THE TICKETS WERE ONLY $7 AT THE GATE!

Gotta call you on this one, BO. There are myriad stupid UT fans who act like idiots the week of the BG game (and the rest of the year as well) but, you are able to read and you frequent this board and attend games- can you honestly say that there are no moronic BG fans who act like idiots during game week? And the rest of the year? If that's a stretch for you I can provide a list of names. :-D

I had a great time walking around before the game and every time somebody yelled "UT Sucks" (or worse) I walked over, introduced myself and by the end of the conversation they were saying "hey, Good Luck, Rockets". Saw several groups tailgating with people in gear from both schools. Got to meet Dayon (after somebody at his tent yelled "Rockets Suck" and that was cool. Tried to find Freak's group but there was a lot of territory to cover.

Had a great time for about 32 minutes of gametime, made noise with our noisemakers that most assuredly were NOT confiscated- several BG fans were asking where we got them and couldn't believe how much noise they made for such a small item, didn't bother anybody and went home to get ready for track and basketball season.

I must say H2O, that you have exhibited class while visiting our board. I was at the game yesterday and spent some time with the Freak et al, and even asked The Falcon Fanatic if you had stopped by? Wanted to meet you and shake your hand. Good luck and God bless.

I never heard the noisemaker once. What was it? A horn?

I was on the east side of the stdium and I didn't hear anything but the phrase "aw... crap" from the UT fans.

I was in the Falcon Club tent for the entire game. We never heard anything from the UT section, other than the UT band once or twice, and maybe one half-hearted cheer from the UT fans.

my only assumption was that the Toledo "noise maker" was the air seeping out of Fat Tom's career...

The horn you heard was the airhorn that someone over at the MACbbs board owns. It's actually a pretty creative noisemaker to bring to the game.

I agree SicSic80. H2O has always been a class act here and treats the rivalry the way it should be...MajorFalcon 92's brother Matt is another cool dude. Good sport win or lose. THAT makes this rivalry the best in the MAC> WMU and CMU absolutely HATE each other and they make it too personal for me. BG/UT is intense and though the dislike is there, so is the respect in most cases.

Now, I'm as happy as Bill Clinton in a Nevada brothel with the win...

You were at the game? Did you stop by the tailgate...or did I miss you (hard to do, I know!)????

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
