Concerning concessions, I'd have to say one of the best things about bringing the wig to games is that I can sneak in a bottle of water or pop instead of waiting in line for an hour just to overpay for Coke products.

One of the reasons people would come to the games was because it was affordable for the entire family. When you start charging $3 for a pop and $3 for stale popcorn, then it is no longer affordable for the family. That is what made a MAC game so much better then a Big Schlong game. I could take my entire family and not have to mortgage the house. With Gladieux now doing concessions, that is what it has become.

I'll continue to pile on and can echo some of Schad's sentiments. I waited for more than entire halftime at the OU game. I wanted some hot chocolate because it was cold, and I stupidly didn't wear enough clothing. I finally get to the front of that line, and they were out. I, along with the next 4-5 people behind me were upset then all left.

How do you run out of something so simple as hot chocolate (or coffee)? You dump some swiss miss into hot water...voila hot chocolate!

That was the only time I've braved the concessions at the football games this year, and my experience wasn't too good.

I generally do partake at Anderson Arena, but I'm going to try to avoid it completely this year. The quality may actually be worse than years past and the prices have doubled or tripled in many cases. Not sure about the Lines at Anderson (I usually buy before there are many even in the arena), but I'm sure they're no better. I do know that the pop selection SUCKS. I could deal with the switch to Coke if you at least offered something worthwhile from them. Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite are the only options at Anderson. No Cherry Coke, no Barq's Rootbeer, etc.

Like somebody said, the previous concession prices kept things affordable for an entire family. Now that's not even the case, the quality is still crap, and they still have no concept of how to move people through the line.

In addition to what Hammb said, I went down to the concession stands during the 3rd quarter of the Akron game. The Freaklings wanted some hot chocolate and pizza and the stupid kid behind the counter said, with an attitude, "We're closed". Excuse me? Middle of the 3rd and you're closed? I was very ticked off and this kid seemed to be laughing it up.

Needless to say it took every ounce of energy not to haul off and whack this kid in the mouth...that and the thought of sitting in jail for the night.

I'll eat at the tailgates...and very well. The food is always great and plentiful!

Agreed on all counts. Concessions at The Doyt are a big negative in my book. As Freak points out, it pays to load up at our tailgates ... before and after the game! Noah & I usually opt for a Powerade at some point and he usually talks me into some popcorn, too, but it's a pricey proposition.

And, back to the original thread topic (kind of) ... this is NOT BRANDON'S FAULT!

And the one thing that nobody has mentioned yet, the fact that students are now unable to use meal plan money (or even flexfunds) at the athletic events.

I never knew that option had existed. It was not around in the early 90's.

I never knew that option had existed. It was not around in the early 90's.

All I know is that you were able to pay for food at athletic events with meal plan money in 2005 and 2006. I don't know exactly when they started the program, but it was at least before 2005. Now that Gladieux, or whatever the heck it is does the concessions and not UDS, students can only pay with actual cash or BG1 card.

Meal plan was not an option when I graduated in '02.

I think it was a relatively recent addition before they took it away this season.

I can remember most of the resturantes in BG were taking student meal plan cards when we moved out this summer and I can remember that at games as well. I actually that whole deal was good.
now they have efffed it up? Imagine that.

I'm not sure I'd say it's homosexual, but with a name like Gladieux... well...

But more to the point, just get the same amount as your meal plan money on a BG1 card next semester. It's a better option anyway. That's what I did and I have had no problem at all this semester.

Flexfunds...? What are those? No game concessions...? Since when?
