Don't see it happening. No MAC teams will have a good profile because hardly anyone plays anybody. Miami is one of the few schools who is willing to go play somebody. Outside of Miami the league has 1 good win and that was Western over Davidson. Western will also host S. Illinois which will be nice. Buffalo has played people but gotten hammered both times. OU is playing Maryland and Kansas, they can beat Maryland.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:By the time the dust clears from the MAC schedule, no MAC team will have a legit at-large profile.
Even if one did, they would lose out to a 17 win South Carolina team or some nonsense, or win the tourney.
The MAC is not very good this year. Kent St., Miami, and OU are. Those 3 teams might be each other up, other than that they might have a slip up against an Akron or BG. We'll see it's a shame the 3 best teams in the MAC are in the same division. Western will cruise to a West title while Miami will win the East over Kent and OU.
Point being Miami is the only MAC team with a shot at an at large bid and is the best hope this conference has of sending 2 teams.

Big Ten schools used to regularly come into MAC buildings, take a beating and leave. I cna think of several at UT and you oldtimers can scertainly think of several at Anderson Arena. I remember S. Carolina coming into the Filed House as a Top Ten team and Indiana cam3e in at Number 1 at the first game at Centennial. You won't see that much anymore and kudos to Ball State for getting Georgetown, even with the inside connection. Nobody wants to risk their RPI and end up with an RIP anymore.
"BCS" conference schools are starting to play mid majors on the road. Just off the top of my head Pitt. last year played @ Buffalo this year at Dayton. G-Town this year has played @ Ball St. and Old Dominion. Xavier also plays Tennessee and Kansas St. at home this year. There was a good article written by Andy Katz about this I'll try and find it.h2oville rocket wrote:Big Ten schools used to regularly come into MAC buildings, take a beating and leave. The only "name" teams Miami gets at home is Dayton and Xavier because they've been playing for 50 years and even those home and aways have been discussed as being reduced to 2 for 1 ones. There could be a direct correlation with Big10 schools not coming here with Jim Laranega leaving and the basketball program not being as good. If your good it doesn't matter what conference your in. And there is nothing wrong with a 2 for 1. If Xavier or S. Illinois offered a 2 for 1 BG would be insane to not take it.tiznow wrote:To say Miami is the only team that will play anybody is not completely accurate. BG has tried for years to get home and home with teams. BG is likely to get 2 away and one home. Michigan State will not play at Anderson anymore. Other MAC schools have had the same problem.

They play the ones they can beat (or feel they can beat) on the road.Falcon137 wrote: "BCS" conference schools are starting to play mid majors on the road. Many of us have heard different UM and MSU coaches cry after losing at Anderson that they won't be back.

That makes no sense. So your saying Tennessee or K State @ Xavier is any easy win. Pitt. @ Dayton easy win? Carolina playing Davidson went down to the wire. Big schools are playing road games to boost their RPI's. Their not going to go play a terrible team on the road because instead of helping their RPI's it would hurt them.transfer2BGSU wrote:They play the ones they can beat (or feel they can beat) on the road.Falcon137 wrote: "BCS" conference schools are starting to play mid majors on the road. Except Ohio State, They are scared to death of playing MAC schools when they are good. They bring in the Tennessee-Martins and South Carolina States instead.
