Kory is the only non BCS player in that final group. We all know he is the best center in college football, I am glad he made it to the final six. Good luck Kory in winning the award. You deserve it.

I can't put into words how awesome it would be for him to win this award!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Thats great news.

Does he have a reasonable chance to win the award? Has a non BCS player ever won this or a similar award? Are any of these other Center's locks for the award.

Regardless it is great that he is being mentioned among the top at his position in the country.

Edit: Answering my own question
Past Rimington Trophy Winners
2006 Dan Mortzes, West Virginia
2005 Greg Eslinger, Minnesota
2004 Ben Wilkerson, LSU
2003 Jake Grove, Minnesota
2002 Brett Romberg, Miami
2001 LeCharles Bentley, Ohio State
2000 Dominic Raiola, Nebraska

That could be bad and good for him if they see a need to give it to someone from a different kind of program.

The other finalists: Joining Lichtensteiger as a finalist will be Steve Justice (Wake Forest), Jonathan Luigs (Arkansas), Alex Mack (California), Adam Spieker (Missouri) and Cody Wallace (Texas A&M).

None of these names jump out at me, What does is one is from Missouri and they are having a great season.

This is AWESOME news. Kory has been a pure joy to watch play over the last few years and he's always been very cordial and approachable.

He DESERVES this award...period. These awards always seem to go to the BCS boys but dammit, KL deserves it just as much.

I will be watching the show to see him get the award.

Not sure if any non BCS has ever won a similar award, but Toledo's Brett Kern is one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award for the nation's top punter and he will be joining Kory down in Orlando for the award ceremony.

Good luck to both Kory and Brett.

You bring up a very good point. If this selection committee is anything like the polls, then I could see the center from Mizzou selected since they are fighting for the national title. That is completely wrong, but how it works sometimes. Go Kory !

According to the ESPN site, it says 7:30-9:30 tonight on ESPN. I would think Kory would be there.

BEST OF LUCK, BIG MAN!!!!! Bring home the hardware.

Neither MAC player brought home the iron (gee, what a surprise), but it was great to hear their names.

Nonetheless, I'm sure we'll be seeing Kory playing on Sundays in 2008!

Man, Josh was pretty upset about it cuz he's been wearing #78 for 4 years but I told him "They almost always give it to a BCS Conf player." But Kory is still the BEST to us. We love ya, bro.

Congrats to Kern of UT as well...he got some nice air time!
