Falcons vs Browns

Post by bgsufalcon24 »

This is a question I've been pondering for a while. I wanted to wait until we see our bowl opponent to ask it, but with a big Browns showdown at Arizona this weekend, I can't really hold it any longer.

If (and when) BG wins the bowl game, they'll be 9-4, and the only way the Browns could have a better winning percentage would be if they win out. They would have to finish 12-4.

9-4 = 69.2%
12-4 = 75%
11-5 = 68.8%

I'm very confident in BGSU winning in whatever bowl game they play in, but I don't see the Brown's going 12-4 this season.

I guess your answer depends on whether BG wins their bowl or not. If we lose the bowl and finish 8-5, then the Browns would only have to go 10-6 to beat BG in win percentage.

Cleveland is quite likely to make the playoffs.

Personally I think they'll be one & done in the playoffs, so I project them to finish 10-7 or 11-6.

I think just about any Browns fan would crap themselves if that happened, especially in Foxborough.

That's almost a bigger upset than if BG were to beat OSU, or somebody like that.

I'm not. I think this team has overachieved a bit. Rutgers or Purdue would be difficult challenges. Central Florida wouldn't be easy, either.

I don't know as much about East Carolina.

I think BG would beat the Browns in a bowl game.

Not so much overachieved as didn't play or beat anybody. We beat one team with a winning record - WKU (7-5). It was still a good year, but we shouldn't be all that confident going against a good team in a bowl game when we haven't beaten a single good team this year.

I hope we end up in the GMAC against a marginal team from CUSA so we have a good chance to win.

This may be another case of me not being able to detect sarcasm, but I'll take the opportunity to hijack my own thread anyway.

Let's say you put the Miami Dolphins up against the best team in college football (pick any team you want from the top 10?) Does the college team win? I'd say probably not, although it would be interesting to see. It would be interesting to hear some of your thoughts on this.

To say that a middle-of-the-pack college team like Bowling Green would take an upper-middle NFL team like the Browns is, uhh...probably somewhere between asinine and insane.

The Dolphins would beat an all-star team from the top 25 about 70-3.

Yes, there is a big difference between the best college and worst NFL team. It would be ugly. Back in the 70's the defending super bowl champs used to play a team of college all stars. They stopped those games because they were not real competitive.
