DO WE DESERVE A BOWL GAME NOW?
The question has to be asked.
I will stand by my earlier post that .. while not the best.. this is still one of the best BG teams ever.
But do we deserve a Bowl Game?
We tend to choke late in the season.. and after a self-destructive performance tonight, do we really deserve to play in the post-season.
At least Gregg Brandon may stick around for another year after this loss.

BG will be going to a Bowl Game. The MAC will get 4 teams in Bowls and BG is easily the 4th choice. I suspect it will be the Silicon Valley Football Classic or whatever the hell it is called. Hopefully we won't have to listen to that chick talk too much. I also saw this week that the SVB starts at 11:00 Eastern time. That will be a late night.
GO BG! Omar for '05 Heisman!

I didn't like that first onside kick with a little over three minutes left in the game. I felt if you kick off and hold them to fourth down they'd punt from their on territory. Toledo having the ball across midfield was able to go for it and convert a fourth and short. As for bowl possibilities you figure Miami, Toledo, and NIU will be in position for the three MAC tie ins. I feel if the MAC does get a fourth spot it will be BG.
Where was PJ's Opportunities in 2nd Half?
Toledo didn't stop us on the ground all night. Yet, in the pivital third quarter, Pope running the ball was not an option for us. Why?
I don't understand when Omar was struggling a little bit, we didn't hammer them with Pope? That would have opened up some passing opportunities for us.
We go brain-dead in the third quarter and it cost us the game. That was not a game we should have lost!

That's exactly the kind of talk I would expect out of a certain couple of other conference teams fans.
Can we stop with the finger pointing before it goes any further
I'm as disappointed as anyone right now, but the future is still looking good for the conference and for the team. I, for one, will be extremely pleased if we can continue to compete for titles. We are not going to get them every season.
(BTW, this was in response to falconwise jumping the coaches already)

The play calling in the third quarter was ridiculous. There aint no way their DBs can cover our WRs. Why the f*ck did he keep having Omar roll out, basically helping the def so they only have to defend half the field.Falconwise wrote:Brandon and Beckman were outcoached. Stud's play calling was predictable. Get a clue Gregg....."players coachs" always lose.
Play hard, play fast. BG didn't and doesn't.

During that one long drive in the third quarter they ran the ball pretty good on that direct snap play to Pope where the backside guard pulled and led through the hole. I just think the defensive playcalling wasn't the best. I felt they should've maybe went with more cover 2. Force Toledo to use the clock on their drives. The worst thing a defense can do against a team trying to make a comeback is give up the big play and that's what happened in the third quarter.

To answer your question, we deserve the MAC's fourth Bowl bid. UT and Miami should get one for winning their division. NIU should get one for beating us, and for getting hosed last year. We should get the fourth. Frankly, I can't look too forward to it right now.
Did we beat a team with a winning record this year? One, right? A 6-5 Marshall team.

You mean like Jordan stopping at the first down marker as Moore breezes past him for an easy TD?Mad_Bomber wrote:The worst thing a defense can do against a team trying to make a comeback is give up the big play and that's what happened in the third quarter.

Exactly. The score was 27-21 and you still had over 8 minutes left in the third quarter. Now all of a sudden you're in a dogfight.Warthog wrote:You mean like Jordan stopping at the first down marker as Moore breezes past him for an easy TD?Mad_Bomber wrote:The worst thing a defense can do against a team trying to make a comeback is give up the big play and that's what happened in the third quarter.
