I know I whined publicly about not wanting it to be the GMAC, so once it hit the scroll yesterday I immediately shifted into Maximum Lobbying Effort Overdrive.
At this point, I am about 80% confident you will see the Swoop and his ever present BG Game sidekick Legacy Boy down in Mobile.
Screw school the next day. Work for that matter as well.
My tentative plans show a Mobile 2:00 pm arrival on Saturday, probably a La Quinta stay on I-65.
I see this Bar plan is making the hit list, alright with that then the Parade (missed this last Bowl trip). So let's get the Brick Pit on the agenda for Gameday Lunch before we go kick some Golden Hurricane butt.
There is no other way to finish a season other than yelling at the top of your lungs among BG's players holding the Peace Pipe aloft!
If at all possible, DON'T miss the Mardi Gras parade Saturday night. That whole afternoon/night will be a blast and have a great football feel to it. I can't wait

I've been lucky enough to go to several bowl games, and have never regretted a penny I spent. Nice work and enjoy the game!
Thanks, Man! To say I am jacked is an understatement. Where there's a will, there's a way. I was having a good sales month and bingo...Friday a big deal came in late in the day to push me over my monthly goal. The commish check went up drastically and the funds are there.

FALCON FOOTBALL ROCKS!
Hi Falcons - My son and I went last year and had a great time.
Pat's might not be a fancy bar, but it has character and is a few blocks to the route for the Madis Gras parade, which is a HOOT! At the risk of sounding like a Chamber of Commerce worker, the townspeople were very friendly and the Southern Miss fans were great.
One tip - we strayed at the Fairfield Inn on I-65 Service Road South. It was your basic Fairfield Inn (great beds, though) in a relatively busy area, but it was right on the shuttle bus route to Mardi Gras (HIGHLY recommended as opposed to driving there), the stadium was an easy drive from there and the seafood restaurants in Spanish Fort were maybe 15 minutes away.
Recommended restaurants: Felix's (finer dining for seafood), Ed's Shed (funky seafood joint, great scallops) and the Oyster House were all on the same road that you would take to visit the USS Alabama.

I'll have to second what mobilebama said about the Mardi Gras parade. That is an awesome parade (at least from the view of marching in it back in '04). I can only imagine what it's like watching it. I still have all the beads and cups and whatnot that (not food) that was thrown into my tuba bell! The folks in Mobile sure know how to treat visiting fans. Can't wait 'till we leave to head down there again. Only now, it's a matter of whether or not we take a bus or fly down since we flew back in '04, and it's been rumored that we may fly after the 23 hour return bus trip last time. In any case, I don't care what the weather's like, I'm gonna have an awesome time yet again!
Because God has once again smiled on me and because my wife loves me for reasons I don't pretend to understand, Noah & I WILL be at the GMAC Bowl, despite some potentially life-changing personal issues in the near future.
Nonetheless, the flights are booked. The car is reserved. We are holding a few hotel rooms to determine which is most strategically placed. 8) Next up - game tickets.
This may be a Christmas surprise for Noah, since I had told him that we probably wouldn't be able to make a bowl trip.
So the questions that remain ...
1) Where is the official pre-game lunch?
2) Noel - what can we bring to a tailgate?
3) Are the Ay Ziggy Zoombells prohibited?
4) What's the weather forecast?
We've already dealt with a near-hurricane in Mobile, so bring on Tulsa!
Hey, look at me! I'm all over the InterWebs! Facebook ~ Twitter @ CoachKarlPA ~ LinkedIn
Brick Pit has great ribs and EXCELLENT pulled pork and the banana pudding is scrumptious!
As for the tailgate- we'll work the details out closer to the date- I'm thinking it will be a fairly simple deal with hot dogs/brats chips drinks and plenty of Forward Falcons and Ay Ziggy Zoomba from the iPod!
Seriously, how am I supposed to make it another 30+ days????
Just booked my trip down. Going through Biloxi this time, so I won't get to see Karl and Noah at the New Orleans airport this time. But I'll be looking for you at the game. Booked at the same hotel as the Freak, so hopefully I have enough on the credit card for my bail as well. 8)
