In seeing that Jason Meadows will start his show at 4pm on gameday at the stadium is it safe to say that is when the parking lots open? Weather permitting I want to get there early to set up and tailgate!!!

MobileBama - how about a link to the Parade Route?

Don't forget to eventuaally give out the address of "the establishment" of your friends' either that will be open pre- and post- parade.
There is no other way to finish a season other than yelling at the top of your lungs among BG's players holding the Peace Pipe aloft!

I believe the gates open at 2. Here's a number to call and ask:
(251) 208-2500

The parade route CAN'T be missed. Just ask the locals and stand behind the barricades. I'll meet up with a lot of you Saturday and point you in the right direction. If you're downtown, you can't miss it! Bienville Square is a cool place to watch it (see map below)

"the parade starts rolling at 6:30 PM, and will follow a modified Route A. Mobile’s largest Mardi Gras parade will feature 22 floats from various mystic societies, NASCAR Driver ??? GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet car, as well as high school and the two team's band and cheerleaders"

Here's the address of the bar, Pat's:

271 Dauphin St
Mobile, AL

MobileBama: What do you know about the Ashbury Hotel located on 600 I65 Service Rd. It is on the recommended hotel site and looks pretty nice. We are not planning to rent a car and want to make sure we can get to restaurants, etc. if they are not a full service hotel. Anything you know and can share will be appreciated!

MobileBama,

Is Pat's the brew pub that served as the Memphis fans' bar in 2004? My dad and I stumbled in there early before the parade, and that was a great looking bar. And, for all of the crap that CUSA fans have taken around here lately, the Memphis fans there were absolutely fantastic to us.

And if you've never seen a Mardi Gras parade, DO NOT miss the GMAC parade. MoblieBama does not lie. That parade, followed by the pep rallies and fireworks n the bay, are worth the trip alone. I've said it before, and I'll say it again now: I can not imagine a better bowl experience for fans, outside of the Rose Bowl, than the GMAC bowl. I'm sure there may be a couple of others that are given the type of regional attention that GMAC is, but I can not imagine a more welcoming, warm-hearted local population. Thanks for all of your work MobileBama!

Thanks Bleeding Orange! You're exactly right. That whole Saturday experience is awesome. Much better than the old date (Tuesday night) There are 100 times more people out downtown and it just adds to the bowl experience.

The Memphis Bar, I believe, was Hurricane Brewing Company. It's a cool brew pub just up the street from Pat's. I'm sure Pat's will be good before the parade, then every one can branch off and just bar hop.

The Ahsbury is fine. You're only 5 minutes from Ladd Stadium and about 5 minutes drive to downtown. I'm almost positive that Ashbury offers shuttles to and from downtown. It's in a line of Marriots, Hamptons, Days Inns, etc. so you're in a safe area.

MB, Thanks for the help...we thought it looked OK on the website, but then, most things do... we'll try to book it.
