Hey buddy, no one understands more about how Kate influences our team than me. Yes, losing her and Whit will sting greatly, but I believe Tracy will have learned well under her and do fine at the point next year. To be honest this Slagle girl sounds like another Kate Achter. So if you think us losing Kate at the point will be worse than losing 6 seniors your out of your mind. Give Curt Miller some credit for coaching these girls up.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Therein lies the problem though Falconboy, Kate is going to be a huge loss. I will say this now...Miller will win a national title...at BG or somewhere else. I think he is the best young coach in the game today. Heck, young or old, he's one of the best and we are truly blessed to have him here.
Keep up the great work, Falcons!!! RIP IU
I hate to say something like this because it could come across as being slightly disrespectful to the amazing group that we had the pleasure of watching the last 4 years....but I seriously think that this group of Freshmen will get to a Sweet 16 faster than the previous super class did and I think they will see a Final 4 by the time they are Seniors....and a pretty big part of me believes that Miller will be right here leading them to these heights.

I'm not saying that losing Achter is worse than losing Mann, Honneger, Horne, etc. I'm just saying that as a player and fan of basketball, point guard is the most important position on the floor. If you don't have a player who can distribute the ball and get the offense moving, its very hard to be successful. Right now we have that and a whole lot more with Achter. But even with her, against Notre Dame on Wednesday night, there were more than a few possessions where we couldn't get any shot off until there was 2 secs left on the shot clock. Then we had to just jack up something crazy. I'm a little nervous that once Kate leaves that we'll be seeing a lot more of that, IF, Tracy or Slagle isn't able to step in effectively.Falconboy wrote:Hey buddy, no one understands more about how Kate influences our team than me. Now that's just offense. Honestly, the way we play defense against the MAC teams we really won't have to score much to win so this could be a moot point anyway.
We'll really be in the clear for the 2010 season, I don't think we lose anybody after the 2009 season.

I definitely don't disagree with you there. Our offense may be a little rough at the beginning next year, but I don't believe its going to suddenly suck by any stretch either.bgsufalcon24 wrote:If you don't have a player who can distribute the ball and get the offense moving, its very hard to be successful.Falconboy wrote:Hey buddy, no one understands more about how Kate influences our team than me. Hoosier Road Trip...
I'm getting tempted to try and get a ride there but I really need the hours at work and I'd probably have to try and take that Mon. off to make the trip feasible. Most likely I'll be catching it on BTN at a friends.

Take Monday off? Unless you work early hours, you'll be back in BG by 9pm, 10 at the latest Sunday night.Falconboy wrote:I'm getting tempted to try and get a ride there but I really need the hours at work and I'd probably have to try and take that Mon. off to make the trip feasible. I'm still debating it, but just as I convinced myself to pick up and go, I learned I picked up another dog to watch Sunday. Not sure the three of them can be trusted for the extra 3 hours I'd be gone...

They're dogs. F**k 'em. If something happens to them, get a cat. Cat are not only self-cleaning units, but they also poop in a box. Which is awesome.TG1996 wrote:Take Monday off? Which is my thought as well, except that I don't quite have a bed set up in the driveway yet if the wife gets home to carpets covered in poo.

Re: Hoosier Road Trip...
Well, how far is the trip to IU's arena? I usually try to be in bed by 9pm as I have to get up at 4:15am or so just to be able to make it to work on time. Plus theres the possible weather related dicey road situations which always lengthens my trip to work requiring earlier rising. I'm certainly tempted to to try and make a go of it, just wish the game time was closer to noon.TG1996 wrote:Take Monday off? IU's arena is about 45 minutes south of Indy. I can get to BG from Indy in about 3 hrs flat.
Do a mapquest to Bloomington, IN from wherever you're starting out, and subtract about 20 minutes, you'll have it. (Mapquest likes to have its drive time estimates done by 80 year old women.)

$5.00 AND they have the most pathetic support of women's athletics at that school so you'll be able to get almost any seat you want at the door. This will probably be yet another road game where there are more BG fans in the building than home team fans.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:Already been over to their site, tickets are $5Falconboy wrote:How much would tickets be anyway and who would you get them from IU or BG?
